Cicinho back to training with Real Madrid six months after injury

Brazilian right-back Cicinho returned to training with Real Madrid on Tuesday, almost six months after suffering a knee injury.

The young defender was met with a round of applause by his teammates, and hopes to be able to play a competitive game by early April.

Cicinho tore a ligament in his right knee on September 23, in a game against Betis in the Spanish Liga. He started his recovery in Brazil and then returned to Spain to work on a fitness plan designed by Real Madrid doctors.

Cicinho boost for Real

Real Madrid have been boosted by the return of Cicinho to training.

The Brazilian defender has missed the last five months of the season after damaging knee ligaments against Real Betis.

The ex-Sao Paulo full-back is now back training with his colleagues following a month of muscle strengthening with the club's physios.

Cicinho is not expected to return to action this month, although the early prognosis indicates a playing return in April.

That means the 26-year-old may feature against Celta Vigo on April 1st as Real look to exert pressure on leaders Barcelona and Sevilla.
