Cicinho Returning To Madrid

Cícero João de Cézare, better known by his footballing nickname Cicinho, is less than a fortnight away from a return to Madrid.

The right wing-back has been getting back to full fitness in his native São Paulo, using the medical and training facilities in his ex-club’s Barra Funda ground.

Injured last September the 23rd, Cicinho was one in the long list of players who’ve succumbed to the dreaded cruciate ligament knee injury that typically results in a six-month lay-off.

His recovery has gone smoother than expected, Cicinho demonstrating resilience and, never having suffered a similar injury, faster healing than a veteran.

The progress has led to him being recalled to the Spanish capital so that the Real Madrid doctors can keep him under supervision and ensure that he really is ready to return.

Cicinho is slated to appear in March; a full month earlier than had been predicted in the wake of the ligament trouble that he picked up in the fourth round Liga Betis match in the Ruiz de Lopera stadium.

The player has been training morning and afternoon, but not with a ball yet, simply concentrating on recovering that lost fitness that made him one of the fastest sprinters in his position.

Cicinho Working Towards March Return

Real Madrid right-back Cicinho has targeted a March return following his knee ligament injury.

Cicinho picked up a serious knee injury in Madrid's La Liga clash against Real Betis in September, and an operation sidelined him for six months.

His recovery is on track in Sao Paolo, and the Brazilian is set to return to Madrid to complete the final phase of his come-back under direct supervision of the Real medical team.

He is currently undergoing physiotherapy to strengthen his knee, rebuild his muscles, and is yet to start training with the ball.

However, he is expected to start training on the pitch in around two weeks, and be able to work with the ball in around four. A full return could still be six to eight weeks away, but Madrid are positive that it will be sooner rather than later, particularly given that it is his first serious injury.

Fabio Capello has meanwhile lost his patience with Michel Salgado, and has chosen to place his faith in youth team right-back Miguel Torres, who has been played both on the left and the right.

Sergio Ramos continues to alternate centre-half and right-back duties. Cicinho's return is certain to hand Don Fabio more option.
