I enjoyed Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, although in the end it's probably a bit too unwieldy to call a great film. Lily's looks are otherworldly enough to see why she fits the role, but unfortunately her acting wasn't fantastic.

Apparently, 1995's Fair Game was meant to launch Cindy Crawford into cinema stardom. I haven't seen the movie from start to finish, but it couldn't have helped much that her co-star was one of the Baldwins.

This is quite literally the only scene from Pirates 4 that I can remember.

Agyness Deyn has forged a pretty decent acting career for herself in recent years, albeit mostly in low budget and indie flicks. Although the kids these days don't believe me when I tell them that she was a famous model in 2005.

IMHO models shouldn't play major roles in movies unless they can act- which seems to be rare in nature.

Cara's been in movies and now TV shows.  Seems only yesterday that she was on the HF runway while being 5 inches shorter than everyone else

Besson seems to be reaching borderline dangerous levels of self-parody these days. 

 

Tough to judge Sasha's acting ability though, all I've seen so far is the trailer and it doesn't appear to include any of her dialogue.

Yeah, I think my curiosity is such that I'll be giving it a look as well, albeit probably not on the big screen. It's an impressive supporting cast, too.

There's a beautiful (french?) model that's been appearing in movies too.  She's very young and was dating a director of one of her films.  I forgot her name though..she did a lot of higher profile modeling and then quickly turned to acting.  So her thread wasn't on top of BZ for very long.

 

Wasn't the last film cara was in also by Luc Besson?  Also Sasha had a small role as an Alien.

 

I still love 5th Element though..

5th Element is the shit. So many elements could have gone wrong but didn't .  It's one of those movies with high re-watchability:

You know it seems to me that models have limited opportunity in movies due to their bodies being a first impediment (beyond say, if talent in acting exists).  People often say that this model could be an actress once they see their face and then they forget that these women are unnaturally tall and unusually proportioned.

Yeah, I'd imagine that most models probably have at least a modicum of experience in the realm of performing arts, but the sort of physical attributes that are great for modelling and especially runway work aren't necessarily good for film or TV, where perspectives are frequently very different.

 

Also, by and large, they're presumably trained in a way that's built around posing and keeping certain postures more so than natural reactions or emotional responses.
