It's hard to imagine that lobsters were once extremely plentiful in the 1700s/1800s and were considered food for the poor!  The waters were swarming with them prior to the exponential population growth and organized catching.

So were barbecue and fajitas.

Yeah humans fuck everything  up.

Have to pay the transportation & shipping costs which costs more than the actual item itself.

I saw live ones today for $13 a pound at this ghetto market.  At a good supermarket I saw 6 oz. tails going for $8.

My understanding is that the workers who were given lobster meals were talking about revolting or striking because they were getting tired of lobster! 🦞

It really puts things into perspective and shows what value is.  I actually do not enjoy eating lobster so much; I see the social experience of eating them more valuable than the meat itself. I'd rather eat BBQ and steak...

IMHO lobster rolls miss the point of eating lobster.

Regarding steaks I see Filet Mignon as the most overrated part of the steak- it doesn't compare to eating Rib-eye and everytime I eat a filet at a steakhouse it feels like a slightly better and more tender sirloin-rare.  I think it's mainly expensive due to its scarcity value.

They probably pay more for beef which makes up for it. :idk:

In Conneticut I went to a lobster catcher's shop and they were selling whole lobsters for $12  for 1 1/2 pounds.  $47 for 1 lb of lobster meat.

Not bad, but $47/lb for lobster meat is crazy. People in Connecticut can afford it though.

It's grilled meats. They have chicken, pork, and sausage besides beef.

Is it good?  One of them opened in a mall close to me and I just discovered it over the weekend.

They were selling 1 lb of lobster meat  for the price of 4 (1 1/2 lb) whole lobsters.
