Absolutely flabbergasted she has yet to be in a S.I. Swim issue.

With the direction SI Swim has been heading the last few years, Mel is too hot and does not meet the body positivity/inclusion requirements that the majority of SI "models" are today, especially after today's issue launch.

Right, Carmella doesn't check the right combo of geriatric, fat, or dude in order to get in SI Swim

Mella might generate some genuine excitement for the issue. We cannot have that!

On 2nd thought, Mel shouldn't do SI Swim.  They'll just figure out a way to make her look bad, if it's even possible for Mel to look bad.

Crazy idea. Get enough people together that committ to actually buy enough copies of the swimsuit edition if they were to put Carmella in it.

Sad truth is that sexy has not been a big driving factor in print magazines for a very long time. As sad as it is ... the voices complaining about SI putting unattractive people in their Swimsuit edition are either A) the minority and not enough to offset the expense or B) weren't going to buy it anyway.

I concur.  Print is now obsolete, so the SI Swim edition can no longer compete when you can see IG models, like Mel, without the editorial middle-man.  Mel 24/7 via IG vs. one print edition per year... the choice is simple.  And the prestige of being featured in SI Swim is fading now that the publication is propaganda for DEI candidates as opposed to the embodiment of the ideal looking woman.  Same could be said for VS and VSFS.

SI Swim used to launch supermodels' careers: Elle, Heidi, etc.  Now, they just feature a very loose definition of "models".

My personal conspiracy theory is that they're either getting paid to put the people they're putting in their Swimsuit issue or they otherwise profit from it (like they can write off the expense as a business expense and someone does them a favor somewhere or sometime else).

At the end of the day it's all marketing, there is a product to be sold and those models are only a vehicle to market and sell the product. Which is why I think that the supermodels of old are going to go the way of the dinosaurs and that in the future supermodels will also have to be influencers to be truly successful.
