teamrican1 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Just wondering... Why did she leave VS?According to the New York papers, Victoria's Secret was unwilling to pay Gisele more than 5 million dollars a year, and Gisele didn't feel it was worth it to sign another deal with them unless they were willing to pay more. It makes sense from VS's standpoint. Gisele made Victoria's Secret a household name. They paid her a lot of money over the years to achieve that, but now that they are so recognized, they don't really need somebody as expensive as her anymore. They can make do with much cheaper models now, just like they used to before they signed Gisele in the first place. Quote
michelabella Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 good point, I always thought that as well ^ and now VS makes the models, the models don't make VS...(understandably when they had girls like Steph Seymour,Gisele paving the way) ie: they dont get the best, biggest models anymore, they get no names and then see what they can do with them... <_< don't like this strategy and dont think its working either. selita/izabel anyone but of course there also is no new gisele's out there either she accomplished/wowed more in her first 2 years of modeling, than most models accomplish in their whole careers VS contract was just the icing on the cake. teamrican1 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 On how she is making her new home:“In her new home, for example, 80 percent of all construction waste was reused or recycled,” according to the blog on giselebundchen.com. “Also, Gisele chose to use recycled stone and wood materials, insulation, appliances with the green seal and a variety of other sustainable products.” http://www.bostonherald.com/track/inside_t...44&srvc=rssI think Gisele needs to chill out with the green nonsense. She just bought 1 million dollars worth of furniture. So even if 80% of it was "recycled", she still left a much larger carbon imprint than any normal person because she bought 100 times more furniture than the average American. Spouting off about general environmental issues from your palatial Brentwood estate is not going to go over well with the general public. And in the wake of Breastfeedinggate, this is something Gisele needs to be paying a bit more attention to. What she needs to do is narrow her focus. Like in Brazil I know one of her main issues was trying to make one specific river cleaner. That's a much better approach and doesn't open you up to charges of hypocrisy. She should focus her environmental efforts on one specific place or issue, preferably one that resonates with Californians and dedicate herself to just that. Like what Clint Eastwood has done with San Onofre Park. Quote
michelabella Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 she kind of does do that already with her sandals line. Each campaign every year, focuses on one specific effort and the proceeds made from sales, go to those specific causes. (water dress ads helping the river/water, latest sea collection helping the sea turtles,etc...) but maybe something more American focused would be nice, I agree. (even though I doubt any good efforts she does put out will get reported on (in fact they never do bc that doesnt sale mags, lol), they just like to report on something they can make into a negative. michelabella Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Elle MacPherson: "Gisele has a beautiful body" new Brazilian interview Elle did for Quem magazine. They asked her how she felt about Gisele always being referred to as the body , and she says she doesnt mind bc she has a beautiful body, and someone has to carry on the torch. michelabella Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 1:23: In Lincoln Center, Rocha almost mistakenly walks into Gisele Bundchen's dressing room. Both Bundchen and Naomi Campbell have their own dressing rooms, while Rocha and a handful of fellow top models are in a large "Top Model Dressing Room." (The rest of the 150 models get ready in a giant common room.)4:38: Campbell walks in the hair and makeup area. Chaos erupts. Makeup artist Pat McGrath yells for everyone to move back and begins to do Campbell's makeup personally. A second later, Bundchen walks in and chaos erupts again.4:40: Bundchen plops down next to Rocha and shows a hairstylist pictures of her baby, Benjamin (with husband Tom Brady).6:25: Rocha heads back to change into Look 2 and passes Bundchen, whose skirt is being carried by two handlers. "I feel like a bride!" Bundchen says, humming the bridal march.usatoday via giselefan.org Quote

michelabella Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 An interview Gisele's dad gave on a tv show just recently translated by jess93 on thefashionspot Jô: he teaches how to reach the success both professionally and personally, it is a matter that he knows really well, Valdir Bündchen come here...I don't know why, but i think your daughter is much more beautiful than you Valdir: Good to know, that's a good sign Jô: of course you all realized that Valdir is Gisele's father, who is such a nice girl, every time she comes here, her interviews are always great; because she is an amazing and intelligent woman; in the shows i notice she has something different from the other girls, she has an expression you realize that she has something inside too, because some models that i won't say names the only thing's missing is split in the face of the watchers, but Gisele's seems is not like this, she seems to be very generous. Well, i talking to gisele's father *now he talks about the book that Gisele's father's releasing and about how many daughter he has* Jô: How old did Gisele started doing fashion shows? Valdir: i think with 14, i'm not sure but i think it was at this age. Jô: Does she still with that voracious appetite she used to have? Because she loved to eat a lot and eat junk food, which are the best, she eats a lot to scare every model and she still thin. Valdir: i think she's changing... Jô: she is eating less?? Valdir: no, she's eating in a healthy way i believe, and also i believe that everything has your certain age and at this moment she's passing by other cycle, and that's the way cycles are... Jô: tell her if her Solitária (tapeworm Taenia) have babies *this part may not be so clear i haven't found a better way to translate it, but usually we say the person has a Solitaria when this person eats a lot*, i want one , because she eats really well ... *and they start talk about the book again* Valdir: i never thought about have a daughter who would be a model one day. One day a guy *i couldn't understand his name* of our town who was starting his business made one casting and said that one of our girls had the features to be a model, it sounded strange for me and i disagreed of the idea, but in our family we have a philosophy which you can't steal anyone's dream, one this dream was awaken we had to make a premature decision of sending a 14 years old girl to the fashion market in Sao Paulo Jo: yeah, it is a very complicated situation... Valdir: Yeah, it was a very complicated situation, because for Sao Paulo people she was just one more girl but for us she was a daughter we sent to fashion market, it is really complex Jô: yes, because anyone's able to predict someone's future Valdir: well, since this moment we were really insecure; children always ask to their parents: "Dad what can i be?" or "What career should i follow?", since this we started to research what kind of signs we could identify exactly what kind of profile the other girls would have Jô: are the other girls younger than Gisele? Valdir: The oldest is Raquel who's already 37, Graziela who's 35; the twins, Gisele and Patricia are 30, Gabriela is 28 and Rafael is 23. Jô: well, you don't stop... Valdir: that's good Jô: Is Gisele the only model? Valdir: Yes that's true, but i think each one in her own way is a model. Jô: yes, you're right. As you said in this time you had a crisis in function of Gisele's request? Valdir: no, cause in the 40s, life is made of cycles, our difficulties take turns in function of these cycles; we had a big family so were the problems *he give some examples*... *and then they tak about the book again and Valdir experiences* Jô: ok let's talk about the family, because of course this is the main curiosity of everybody here, and know about the other girls, we have some photographs of them, i'd like to see them with you... *then it shows the photo* and jo comments: it is a tribe, not a family... Valdir:the girl in black from left it's Raquel, the oldest who works in computer area Jô: is Gisele the one in de middle with the fringe? with the smart girl stare Valdir: yes, that's right Jô: the other girls, who are they? Valdir: There's patricia who's by Gisele; Graziela who's by my side in the back who's a federal judge, Patrícia works with Public Relations, she take cares of Gisele's career and helps her, and Gisele is a model so she couldn't study; the girl in blue is Gabriela who's a lawyer; and Rafaela is in the marketing area and is getting graduated now... this is our team. Jô:your wife is really beautiful Valdir: thank you, you see that genetics is a such a good thing Jô: it does not include you *laughs and shows another pic* Jô: now they are grown up... and is gisele already working as a model? Valdir: yes, we took this pic on a trip *show other pics of the girls, and the pic @2:45 jô says: "well i think that everyone has a dumb pic in our family, take a look in this pic" Then it shows Gisele's parents wedding pic, then they talk about his wedding and etc. * Jô: Where's Gisele now? NY? Europe? Valdir: No, i think she is in LA now, where her husband live, they live there, he plays american football. Jô: yes, he's handsome *laughs* It was really nice to talk to you, i ask you to sen kisses to all the girls and your wife; and also a kiss to Gisele who came here for the first time in the beginner of her career with two other models, and the cutest thing about them was that they were really young and i made a joke about ice creams and at the end of the show they were devouring the ice creams. I've spoken to valdir reinoldo, Valdir Bündchen, thank you very much, i'll be back soon. video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSEAFTq_HJU Quote

michelabella Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 some new Anna Wintour quotes on Gisele from today speaking at a Vogue Summit AnnaWintour @tvfu: "gisele bundchen, along w KateMoss, is a phenomenon. I wish models knew they have to have a personality" "Gisele Bundchen is a bit of a jock. 1 of my fave shoots is her playing football" on the Lebron/Gisele cover: "it got me in a lot of trouble. uh, that was an interesting experience."TeenVogueFashionshe also showed the Gisele/George Clooney cover among her all time favorites. michelabella Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Anna Wintour Advises Attendees of Teen Vogue Fashion UniversityThe attentive audience scribbled notes and snapped photos as Wintour described fashion as "an expression of culture...[Vogue] will tell you just as much as any headline you might read in the New York Times." She showed a series of covers that had particular significance to her career, such as the first cover she did which was "revolutionary at the time" for its outright rejection of Richard Avedon studio photos in favor of a more personal street style. She also talked about a Madonna cover that Andre Leon Talley styled, Kate Moss's long lifespan, and the "phenomenon" of Gisele. Models today, she explained, don't understand that to be successful you have to have a personality, intelligence, and issues that you support, but Gisele embodies these qualities.http://ny.racked.com/archives/2010/10/25/a..._university.php Quote
Jennka Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 She really IS a phenomenon. A gorgeous one! All the big fashion names know it Quote
