steve with an s Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Leaving Las Vegas. One-third of the book is very very good (in my opinion), one-third of it is okay, one-third of it seemed incomplete/needed editing. Great movie.Goldfinger. Parts of the book are just fine, but parts of it I also found a bit offensive. Love the movie.Memento the film I think is better than Memento Mori the short story. It happens I'm reading Planet of the Apes right now (the 1963 novel by Pierre Boulle). I just started it, but so far it's good. Better than the remake for sure (so far), but I love the original film.I want to read Cool Hand Luke. That's on my list.A lot of the noir films could fit. If you don't like the writer's style, then you'll probably prefer the movies. Maltese Falcon or A Gun for Sale for example. I'm just not a huge fan of Dashiell Hammett or Graham Greene, for example, but love those movies. Quote
Lkjh Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Has anyone seen The Perks of Being a Wallflower yet?I adore both Emma Watson and Logan Lerman, but I feel like the book is just one that's supposed to be a book.Very curious what people thought of it? Quote

The book, though not terrible, is a very pulpy affair with a variety of distracting subplots that add nothing to the overall story. The movie on the other hand, still holds up as a classic. Agree with this one, if just for the fact that Goldfinger's plan is to ruin all the gold in Fort Knox, as opposed to his aim of stealing it in the book. Bond even points out in the film that the latter would be implausible. Quote

gustavsson Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 The book is too slow for my taste, the movie was significantly better. Quote
