Irish model-turned-actor Jamie Dornan is rumoured to be a contender to play the Christian Grey in the film adaptation of FIfty Shades of Grey

Most recently seen playing a serial killer in BBC drama The Fall, Jamie Dornan is reportedly being eyed up for the role of Christian Grey in the big screen adaptation of the best-selling 'mummy porn' trilogy.

 

Fifty Shades of Grey film: Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam cast

The Irish-born former model is being considered for the high-profile project after American actor Charlie Hunnam dropped out of playing Grey due to other filming commitments.

 

The film, which is set for release in August 2014, will be directed by Sam Taylor Johnson and Dakota Johnson, the daughter of Hollywood heavyweights Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith has been cast to play Anastasia Steele.

 

The Hollywood Reporter claims that Dornan faces competition for the part from Alexander Skarsgard, Theo James and Christian Cooke.

The 31-year-old was a successful model before he entered the acting arena, appearing in campaigns for the likes of Calvin Klein with Kate Moss, Dior, Aquacutum and Armani. He was also in a high profile relationship with actress Keira Knightley, whom he met on the set of any Asprey photoshoot, from 2003 until 2005.

I'd be happy if he gets the part, he looks the part and is a much better option than the previous guy, i've never seen Jamie act tho so i can speak for that ... However I'm team Skarsgard on this one

If you've never seen Jamie act, you're truly missing out.  I bought Netflix just so I could watch him on The Fall, and he is truly outstanding in his role.  Much more than just a pretty face.  I only wish the series wasn't so short.

 

When I originally read Fifty Shades, I imagined Henry Cavill in the role of Christian.  Jamie would be my only real substitute.  I'm a bit worried that the role might be damaging to the career of whomever is chosen, simply because of the subject matter, but if it's done right I think it could be a lot of fun.  If Jamie is truly interested in getting the role, I hope it is awarded to him.  I'm a Skarsgard fan, too, but I believe Jamie deserves it more.  He needs the recognition and if not this role, I hope he is "discovered" soon in something even greater.  He definitely has the talent.

I was thinking about checking out Once Upon A Time but I'm still not sure, I'm two seasons behind and 44 episodes of the same show is a lot so IDK about that lol.

 

My ideal Christian Grey would be Matt Bomer or Henry Cavill but since they are both busy with other projects I know it won't be one of them so now Skarsgard is my #1 choice, however Jamie would be great too. I doubt that if he gets the part, fans will go into an outrage as they did with the previous guy, I've seen mostly positive reactions from people when Jamie has been mentioned.

I like Skarsgard as well, love him in fact, but he tends to do IN YOUR FACE sexy... whereas Jamie has the subtle sensual sexy which I think would work so much better for Christian;

Do you think Jamie would be willing to do all the nudity though? I think that's the biggest thing about this movie, I don't even think the acting matter as much. They need someone who will have no issues parading around naked at least 45 min out of 2 hours and that's keeping the sex scenes to a low

Oh easily. He's a model and has already done full frontal photo shoots, so what's getting on screen; baring his ass, and donger shots going to embarrass him for?

AWESOME! (Y) Means he'll have no problem then, apparently one of Hunnam's issues was that he didn't feel comfortable doing all the nudity.

 

I guess it will come down to who has the bigger penis most talent, either way I'd love to be part of that casting process

Jamie is now officially Christian Grey!  

I really liked him as The Huntsman/Graham on Once Upon A Time and he was good in Marie Antoinette as well.  Swoon-worthy!

Congratz to Jamie! I still want to way for an Universal confirmation before I start fangirling, It was uber disappointing when they announced Charlie Hunnam so I don't want to get my hopes smashed again.

E. L. James has confirmed that former male model Jamie Dornan will take on the role of kinky billionaire Christian Grey in the forthcoming film adaptation of her novel Fifty Shades of Grey.

In a tweet confirming a slew of Internet reports, the British author welcomed the 31-year-old actor to '#TeamFifty.'

Awesome He has the looks for the part and he had time on his side since they'll probably make four movies and Christian is supposed to be 27-28 in all of them.

 

Now if they could change that woman who is set to play Anastacia it would be so much better
