I agree. The DC of KoH was an entirely different movie.

I think Napoleon + Josephine being an "odd couple" is the heart of the movie 😄

4 1/2 hours - but people think Killers of the Flower Moon or Avatar and The Irishmen were long? lol

This is what their portraits looked like (in reality Josphine was older than Napoleon):

Cutting off 2 hours of a 4 1/2 hour movie is really way too much.  I strongly suspect that the 'final cut' will be a much better film like Kingdom of  Heaven.

Cutting down a movie to please the crowd (who's still not pleased most audience reactions of Napoleon are very medicore lol) is mostly a bad idea and not helping a movie/storyline/character development at all. I think I only liked once a theatrical cut better than the director's cut. Even the unofficial extended cut of TITANIC is much better than Camerons offical version he clings on since forever while making one stupid cut after another of those god awful boring Avatar movies.

Good. It seems that the self-loathing agenda that the socialists have kept pushing in France for years is not working any more.

France was once one of the most prosperous countries and one of the biggest military powers in history. It's about time we celebrate it.

And it's the same for most Western countries. This civilisation had some of the best ingredients for prosperity.

BTW, both of these things are linked: you can't have prosperity in a weak country. Military strength ensures peace and the prosperity of intellectuals, artists, etc.

McGregor is great.

Martial artists and fighters are a rare breed that still has balls. The "Deconstruction" will never work on us.

The lord of the rings trilogy (director's cut) is better than the theatrical as well.

The performance of Avatar 2 was quite weird to me.  I thought it was bomb but it turned out to be a hit.  The thing with Avatar 1 is that after the film was over nobody cared about Avatar.  The same thing happened with 2.  Overall I would prefer if Cameon did other projects. Avatar 1 was a rather dull film from a character point of view.

With napolen, Scott said that the cut content has a lot of Josephine stuff.

I looked up Napoleon & Josephine's relationship and it is evident that Josephine was quite a seductress and social climber.  She had affairs and did not like Napoleon as much as he did her.  She also had fertility issues. He wrote her a lot of letters but she did not return the favor.  It is possible that her cheating was also motivated by finding a fall-back option in case Napoleon was defeated.  When he found out she was cheating on him he acquired several mistresses..

I watched Fury Road in the theaters and loved it but unfortunately the next installment looks off.  The main issue is the whole film looks like too much CGI.  the original was shot in a way that the CGI looked minimal.

There was lots of CGI in Fury Road too but it looked better.

I think the problem might not be Miller but just CGI crunch. These companies are overworked and have to deliver in ever shorter deadlines.

Hence why CGI actually looks worse now than it did a decade ago. I cannot even begin the enumerate the amount of truly horrendous shots I have seen make the theatrical cut of big Marvel and DC blockbusters. It's a bit loony that things have regressed this much.

Speaking specifically about Furiosa, I like Anya Taylor-Joy a lot as an actress but I don't think she works that well as young Furiosa. I think the biggest problem is that Charlize Theron caries herself in such a specific way - across all of her roles as well - and because of that I don't really buy Anya as the young version of Furiosa.

TBH Anya's appearance is always a bit weird to me.  She looks like a high fashion model all the time which doesn't suit most of the roles she is in.

Charlize Theron is a very good actress and has a strong 'queen bee'/ alpha female vibe.  I like her in Fury Road.

Fury road in the theaters was one of the best viewing experiences I've ever had.  It had very convincing action that CG disbelief barely registered to me.

From what I see in the trailer the story is heavily related to the tie-in comics and the film:

Mad Max: Fury Road: Furiosa comic | Read Mad Max: Fury Road: Furiosa comic online in high quality (readcomiconline.li)

Mad Max: Fury Road: Max comic | Read Mad Max: Fury Road: Max comic online in high quality (readcomiconline.li)

Mad Max Fury Road comic | Read Mad Max Fury Road comic online in high quality (readcomiconline.li)

Miller is very old now and CGI reliant is much easier to shoot.

Overall action films have massively declined in quality due to streaming & woke so I no longer have much interest in them.

I think blockbusters have declined outside of any ideology. They just look shit compared to ten, twenty, even thirty years ago.

Part of that is the loss of some older movie techniques that honestly looked better than CGI.

Part of it is the "we will fix it in post" trend in which they don't properly get something in camera, decide to fix it in post only then don't do a proper job at that. So that's how you end up with truly shit shots making it into the finished movie (or TV show). It's embarrassing.
