Interesting video: A car containing British Press gets knocked out, the journalists get out on foot

That's extremely interesting. I believe that modern technology can provide many images of what happens. Anyone with a phone can broadcast images now.

I still think it's not as violent a conflict as say the Chechen wars (where hundreds of thousands civilians were killed), but it's still a Russian operation, so they don't joke around...

I saw many video reports of the Chechen wars (one from a Russian soldier with an old movie camera). It was brutal.

The viciousness of this war- which has lasted only a week is quite disturbing to say the least.

9-11, Great Recession, COVID-19 hell, and now WW3?  wonderful.

All this action has motivated me to look  at some booklets on the Russian military later.

If there's a WW3, all of these past events will look like jokes :ermm:

I never thought that I'd hear someone threatening to use nukes... and he targets nuclear plants too.

If chaos keep increasing, you might see other forces starting to take action (in the Middle East, in Asia, etc.)

Yea life is hard enough in Eastern Europe, and these people want to add nukes to the equation?!  If a political solution is not sought or Ukraine surrenders the war will escalate and grow in size.

The war is currently rather small/mechanized compared to the war in the Ukraine Sept 1943- April 1944.  Maybe half a million right now.  In WW2 it was a 3 million man +struggle.

In one week a lot of Ukraine's infrastructure and buildings have been ruined, besides the losses to the civilians and soldiers.  The longer this continues, the more Ukraine will look like a pile of blasted rubble.

did you like it?

First hour was interesting, but after that it got boring(ish)..last hour was mere torture.

Pattison is a good actor, but it just didn't work out. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I'd rather watch Affleck play Batman. Overall the cast was great, but there was no chemistry.

It's great to see someone not being afraid to tell the truth, even when it's dissenting with the dominant discourse. These people are precious.

That's why democracies are better than authoritarian regimes (we always need to protect dissenting voices, even at home).

I never understood why onlyfans worked so well. Why should you pay for something that's largely available everywhere? :idk:

Brazilian politician’s sexist remarks about Ukraine refugees spark outrage

Arthur do Val heard in leaked audio messages calling women fleeing war ‘easy because they’re poor’

On Thursday Do Val, 35, tweeted a photograph of himself surrounded by crates of motolov cocktails in the border city of Uzhhorod. His traveling partner, the rightwing activist Renan Santos, said they had donated thousands of dollars, helped refugees cross the border and “filmed the reality of a country at war”.

In one recording, the politician says: “I’ve just crossed the border on foot between Ukraine and Slovakia. Bro, I swear to you … I’ve never seen anything like it in terms of beautiful girls. The refugee queue … it’s like 200metres-long or more of just total goddesses … It’s some incredible shit … The queue outside Brazil’s best nightclub … doesn’t come close to the refugee queue here.”

In a second excerpt Do Val says: “Let me tell you, they’re easy because they’re poor.”

In a third he makes obscene remarks about female security officials at the Ukraine/Slovakia border, before adding: “Just unbelievable, dude. As soon as this war’s over, I’m coming back.”

Do Val, who returned to Brazil on Saturday to discover he had lost key allies and his girlfriend, apologised and sought to justify his words. After three days “without drinking water or having a shower” he claimed he had become “over-excited”. “My mind was racing. I talked nonsense,” he said, abandoning plans to run for São Paulo’s governorship.

I don't think I remember any conflict with so much images / videos on the internet.

I used to watch lots of video reports on the Chechen wars and the most "immersive" was from a Russian soldier who had a "portable" VHS camera (and it was very vintage, you couldn't clearly understand what was going on - except that this was a mess)

I think your guy is in prison or Gulag now. :smoker:
