Star Wars has so much content with the Old Republic & Pre Republic, I assume they'll do X, XI, and XII too.

 

I am not comic book movied out, not yet anyway. I think I benefit from having very little comic book background. I have never owned a comic book and have no attachment to the characters before the movies. Marvel probably keeps me interested because they do a good job inserting comedy. With three movies coming out every year, it's hard to know how long that can last though. 

 

Star Wars is releasing one movie every year. That doesn't sound like a lot compared to Marvel, but it could become too much at some point.

I find the new Star wars films to be too similar in directorial style to the Marvel films

 

Meh all around

 

The Nolan Dark Knight trilogy is the only one that I really like.  I've seen Batman Begins and TDK many times.

Me too, but the movies are getting very formulaic and boring. What's Marvel going to do after Infinity War 2...... reboot everything?

 

The DC & WB partnership is just bad at making movies except for the Nolan & Keaton/Burton Batman movies. They're trying to do the same thing Disney & Marvel are doing.

 

The market is oversaturated, but money talks and people will still pay to see the movies.

I would think that Disney & Lucasfilm waits 10 - 15 years after Episode IX to do X, XI, and XII. The movies would only be Anthology movies till then which would get stale & boring unless they do Old Republic & Pre Republic storylines.

Formulaic is definitely true. The comedy may be the main thing that keeps my interest, but I see a lot of movies so I don't have a high standard to get me in the door. After Infinity 2, I don't know. I don't frequent those message boards but I have read some guesses, but who knows.

 

DC really wanted to copy Marvel, but started from a different place. Marvel started with individual movies and by the time they got to the first Avengers movie, all they characters were already known. The opposite of that is Suicide Squad, a movie where you had to introduce everyone before really even getting the movie started. That's a bad way to make a superhero movie.  DC seems to try to have some comedy like Marvel while wanting to be dark like the Dark Knight movies. I'm not sure you can do both.

I think DC has the better super heroes and villains overall imo, but DC & WB suck at making the movies though.

I don't have very high standards to see a movie, mainly because there are two places nearby that let me in for free. My standards are higher to say a movie is great, though.

 

Expectations are big factor in how you rate a movie.

I liked Rogue One better than TFA.  I though TFA was a mess, and very marvel-y.

The crazy thing about Episode VII for me was the similarities with Episode IV. I don't even have an opinion if that's good or bad, but I remember that being my first thought after seeing it.

Especially pups. Cats are, broadly speaking, more resilitant but abandoned pups can very easily break down. Its an ugly sight!

I think Rian Johnson doing The Last Jedi will be good, but will probably alienate fans with potentially new mythos. He is a better director & storyteller than Abrams, but I think only Abrams could do and was the right choice for The Force Awakens though.

What I feel is missing the lack of a "sucker punch/emotional impact" with all these comic book/sci fi films.  BB and TDK blew me away, and there were parts of the mediocre Man of Steel that were good.

 

I haven't watched the trailer for TLJ yet
