In fact every attempt to build a franchise on his name failed big times be it a new one (Huntsman) or a revived one (Men in Black, Gostbusters). And now Furiosa just follows this pattern - even though his character doesn't carry the movie but he's 2nd named and promoting it just like Anya. Even his Thor movies are among the lowest marvel numbers despite from "Thor Ragnarok" and even this success he couldn't repeat with the following disappointing "Thor Love & Thunder". Same for pretty much every other movie he ever starred in since Thor (2011). The only time he kinda succeeded was for netflix (Tyler Rake movies) when people don't had to go outside their own rooms lol oh I didn't know that. I thought he was a guaranteed draw due to his looks. Come to think of it Tom Hardy as Joe Monroe (Immortem Joe) makes more sense. He basically played the character in Dark Knight Rises & Taboo and is good at it. But he was already used as mad max lol.

Good looks are maybe helping in the beginning of a career but in long term it's rather a challenge to be taken seriously for handsome male actors. Most pretty faces are vanishing as far as they appeared in Hollywood. It's the same amount of connections, talent, pr, luck, the right movies/roles/scripts and looks (even though it also depends what current type is asked) necessary to make a career not only successful but long term. Hemsworth is probably just lucky that Hollywood is currently in a crisis when it comes to creating long term A-list celebs. The last one so far is DiCaprio (49). The closest younger guy to him may have been Robert Pattinson (38) or Zac Efron (36). Even though both are far away from worldwide success, influence and celebrity status of Leo.

Is his career declining? TBH I haven't found him a particularly good actor, at least compared to the A-listers I grew up with. Kind of middling, I think he looks great physically and matches the Superhero/action roles that he does. The generation of A-listers that I grew up with (90s and early 00s) have either aged out or are aging. It seems like the 80s-90s-00s had so many great actors compared to today. I agree that it seems like a new generation has not really emerged, I personally believe it's due to how hard the movie business is now along with other factors. It also may be true that the current (2024) A-list class, if it ever comes would have to be different than those that came before. (as actors in the 60s-70s were different than those afterwards).

As long Hollywood is investing in him and his career he will be fine. 7 hours ago, Cult Icon said: TBH I haven't found him a particularly good actor, at least compared to the A-listers I grew up with. I mean don't get me wrong I doesn't want him to be dead ass serious all the time (what some people would say about DiCaprio) but I don't think he really found his niche as an actor yet. Or maybe he's just that. A silly action star with a "great" body and a handsome movie star face. That's still more than some other actors can claim lol

Yea overall having the face, being an ok-ish actor, being 190cm and having an extremely good physique is pretty rare. I think both guys use steriods and tren from time to time with professional help. To maintain that body they have to eat 5 meals a day and exercise very hard everyday, something that is eats a big chunk of one's life. If Chris could act like Christian Bale he would be a great actor. I think Chris Hemsworth was completely miscast as Thor outside of his looks, which were perfect. I watched the first film and couldn't continue because of that. They should have just got one of those guys from the Vikings show lol. Besides his looks he has kind of a weak voice for an actor, especially for a guy that big. I have a better voice than him..

Now I probably have to disappoint you but I really liked Thor 1 & 2 and I think he was actually perfectly cast 😚 I however didn't like what marvel did to this character over the years same as Chris Hemsworth himself. Chris Hemsworth Takes Blame for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Failure: ‘I Got Caught Up in the Improv and the Wackiness’ and ‘Became a Parody of Myself’

Didn't like Thor and the Avengers at all, the rest were OK. Like the comics the MCU films are made to please everyone and lack extremist characteristics. I am a Nolan TDK fan.

June 7, 20241 yr Started yesterday to finally watch the whole trilogy @Lilja K Still love the 1rst part so much
June 8, 20241 yr Not a fan of Johnny Depp at all but this movie was much better than I remembered. I actually remembered almost nothing LOL Eddie Redmayne is so adorable I can't believe I forgot Callum Turner IS PLAYING HIS OLDER BROTHER 😮 @Lilja K
June 11, 20241 yr Didn't had high expectations and so I liked it a lot better than the bad reviews lol

June 14, 20241 yr Had to re watch @Lilja K I think for a movie from 2001 the special effects looked really decent (mostly the robot stuff just awesome made 💯). I also think Haley Joel Osment was a hell of a child actor what a performance I mean he's carrying practically the whole movie with his little face full of raw emotions. My secret hero Otherwise it's a very typical Spielberg movie imo with topics of childhood, the mother/son relationship, sci fi setting, fuckin Aliens 👽 etc lol I agree @Anasxs a few minutes less wouldn't have harmed the pace of the story but I liked the message overall (mindblowing how pretty much accurate it is till today),the cast did really great and I was really touched by the ending 💘 also the whole atmosphere/setting/aesthetic was breathtaking 😮 so beautiful Jude Law is once again GORGEOUS @Cult Icon had to think about you here lol easily 7/10 🍿
June 14, 20241 yr I haven't seen A.I in 15 years but I remember rating it approx. 8 out of 10- pretty good. The other underrated Spielburg Sci-fi flick is "Minority Report". It is very good and I saw it a few times back then. I rated it 9 out of 10. It is much better than the sci- fi flicks in recent years.
