Much better than I remembered @Cult Icon @Lilja K

Also probably slightly better than Furiosa. I really liked them both 😮 But yeah Furiosa is serving this movie def some more depth.

I LOVED Nicholas Hoult as War Boy Nux. I also completely forgot Riley Keough is in this movie and they have some sort of tender thingy.

Fury Road to me has the best chase scenes ever filmed, just insane and very well made.  Recently I re-watched them twice.

I noticed that too, the "Nux" actor is now very successful.

Oooooooh It is so romantic! But real Life shows gentlemen are not so nice

Mad Max : The Wasteland is supposed to take place after Fury Road.  So it gets greenlit then we have a trilogy.  This means that Anya will likely get casted again as Furiosa.  imho she looks better with dark hair.

Tom Hardy has aged quite a bit in the face (a lot of new wrinkles) since 2015 - I don't know if he would get casted or get re-casted.

George Miller Says ‘Mad Max: The Wasteland' Will Only Get Made if ‘Furiosa' Does Well — World of Reel

"I’m still figuring out what to do with [‘The Wasteland’]. I’m just waiting to see the reception on ‘Furiosa.’ If it all lines up, then we’ll go ahead with it."

Not Haydens worst movie lol

This was worse. Even though I liked Haydens performance but not his character if that makes any sense.

Still wonder what made Bruce Willis only making bad action flicks in his 2nd era.

The idea of you (2024)

What I really liked was the moments of laugh. More elegant and good taste than I thought.

Spoiler

The story about two people with age' difference is not my favorite, however the good in this film is the good taste to make it real, possible and romantic, not only sexual this type of relationships.

Personally, I am not interested but I understand there are some cases with true attraction and love feelings.

Interesting end.

Spoiler

Ah, the 3 women in the swimming pool, really ugly!!!!! How Anne role can be envyous????????

@Jade Bahr

my favorite bits from Nux:

"Oh what a day. What a lovely day!" "Witness me bloodbag!" "I live, I die. I live again!"

Furiosa, a total mistake, zero reference to Mad Max, I was also disappointed with Planet of the Apes..such a film in total about nothing new. It's hard to really find something new and interesting, something fresh in cinema, so I reach for films from Asian cinema, which I highly recommend.

Mad Max Fury Road comic | Read Mad Max Fury Road comic online in high quality (readcomiconline.li)

With the film currently in trouble and at risk of bombing it seems that making Furiosa the lead for the film was a mistake- people aren't that interested in Furiosa's backstory.  Fans instead liked Dementus much more, and wanted more of him.

Miller probably would have had a better result scrapping the prequel and doing the sequel to Fury Road, Mad Max the Wasteland and hiring Tom Hardy & Charlize Theron again.

I re-read the prequel comic recently and I've concluded that if Miller was going to go the Prequel direction he should have focused not on Furisoa, but Immortem Joe.  Immortem & his empire was easily the most interesting backstory of Fury Road.

The Dementus character should have been scrapped (he was basically parts of  Immortem's character anyway) and consolidated into Immortem.

The prequel should have been "Rise of Immortem Joe: A Mad Max Saga".

First half of the film about a middle aged Immortem Joe as a warlord winning the resource wars with his marshals The Bullet Farmer & The People Eater.  Immortem kills Furiosa's mother without her knowing.  They could have casted Chris Hemsworth and showed Immortem's descent into evil and the creation of his empire as a short of Saddam Hussein of the wasteland, and his ultimate decline into ill health & despotism. This should have been the central theme of the movie.

Second half of the film they could bring in young Furiosa and the events leading to her becoming Imperator, and then her betrayal.  A way to trigger it is her finding out that Immortem killed her parents or something like that- there is the historian Miss Giddy & maybe she finds an artifact from her mom etc.. that triggers it.

Great film, good actors (Moore, Harrelson, Redford). Personally, I am not interested in that type of relationships, but I think it is a good movie to remember some acts and some consequences. Sometimes rich people with money can not buy It all...

Don't overestimate Chris Hemsworth. Hollywood wants him to be a superstar very badly but he's far away from being a box office draw. In fact every attempt to build a franchise on his name failed big times be it a new one (Huntsman) or a revived one (Men in Black, Gostbusters). And now Furiosa just follows this pattern - even though his character doesn't carry the movie but he's 2nd named and promoting it just like Anya.

Even his Thor movies are among the lowest marvel numbers despite from "Thor Ragnarok" and even this success he couldn't repeat with the following disappointing "Thor Love & Thunder". Same for pretty much every other movie he ever starred in since Thor (2011).

The only time he kinda succeeded was for netflix (Tyler Rake movies) when people don't had to go outside their own rooms lol

oh I didn't know that.  I thought he was a guaranteed draw due to his looks.

Come to think of it Tom Hardy as Joe Monroe (Immortem Joe) makes more sense.  He basically played the character in Dark Knight Rises & Taboo and is good at it. But he was already used as mad max lol.

Good looks are maybe helping in the beginning of a career but in long term it's rather a challenge to be taken seriously for handsome male actors. Most pretty faces are vanishing as far as they appeared in Hollywood. It's the same amount of connections, talent, pr, luck, the right movies/roles/scripts and looks (even though it also depends what current type is asked) necessary to make a career not only successful but long term.

Hemsworth is probably just lucky that Hollywood is currently in a crisis when it comes to creating long term A-list celebs. The last one so far is DiCaprio (49). The closest younger guy to him may have been Robert Pattinson (38) or Zac Efron (36). Even though both are far away from worldwide success, influence and celebrity status of Leo.

Is his career declining?

TBH I haven't found him a particularly good actor, at least compared to the A-listers I grew up with.  Kind of middling,  I think he looks great physically and matches the Superhero/action roles that he does.

The generation of A-listers that I grew up with (90s and early 00s) have either aged out or are aging. It seems like the 80s-90s-00s had so many great actors compared to today.  I agree that it seems like a new generation has not really emerged, I personally believe it's due to how hard the movie business is now along with other factors.

It also may be true that the current (2024) A-list class, if it ever comes would have to be different than those that came before. (as actors in the 60s-70s were different than those afterwards).

I don't think so. Hollywood just bought him a star and he has at least 4 upcoming projects (including another Thor movie). As long Hollywood is investing in him and his career he will be fine.

I find him incredible dull as an actor and/or overwhelmingly often just kinda silly/misplaced. I mean don't get me wrong I doesn't want him to be dead ass serious all the time (what some people would say about DiCaprio) but I don't think he really found his niche as an actor yet. Or maybe he's just that. A silly action star with a "great" body and a handsome movie star face. That's still more than some other actors can claim lol

I don't think Hollywood ever was an easy place to work. But it also has changed in many ways I agree.
