Who Should Play Daisy in Baz Lurhmann’s Great Gatsby?

We recently told you about Baz Lurhmann’s plans to bring a new film adaptation of The Great Gatsby to the big screen that would star Leonardo DiCaprio as Gatsby and Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway. While Rebecca Hall read the role of Daisy in a recent workshopping of the script in New York, word is that Lurhmann is considering several other actresses for the part — namely Keira Knightley, Amanda Seyfried, Blake Lively, Abbie Cornish, Michelle Williams, Scarlett Johansson, and Natalie Portman.In our opinion, none of these ladies is the right choice. Most of what we know about Daisy from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s descriptions centers in on her voice (“a wild tonic in the rain” and “full of money”), rather than physical characteristics, but we’ve always pictured her looking incredibly ethereal

Who would you like to see as Daisy(who would be leos secret lover)?

Cool pics, Leo looks gorgeous. That get together looks like a business meeting... the guy with the white hair looks like Baz Luhrmann. Him and Baz are workshopping Gatsby in NYC. That seems to be the reason Leo has been in NYC alot lately. An article said he'd be workshopping for the next few weeks. Plus leo has another project with a serial killer coming up. Leo is sure busy these days.... oh and don't forget this Hoover movie. Movies seem to be what Leo is focusing on these days.

Thanks for the pics BarbiErin,and I think that is Leo beacause i saw the same pics on x17 and its showed him take his mask off and it was leo. But you may be right! And thanks for the info about Leo with the great gatsby fashion dream :wave:

Leonardo DiCaprio has found himself a bloody good part to play.

The actor is set to star as a serial killer in a big-screen adaptation of Erik Larson's bestselling nonfiction book The Devil in the White City.

DiCaprio will portray H.H. Holmes, who is believed to have killed as many as 200 people in Chicago during the 1893 World's Fair. The sociopath did his deadly deeds in a hotel that he himself built that later became known as the "murder castle." It was equipped with such devices as a gas chamber, dissecting table and crematorium.

Leo usually only makes 2 movies at a time but Hoover, The Great Gatsby, and The Devil in the White city! I don't think hes ever made more than 2 at a time! 3 is great for us fans! lol :wub:

yes, I admire that Leo is always searching different and interesting characters to play, the three movies seem that will be quite azaming! But the one I'am more glad if happen is Gatsby, i don't know that much about this novel, but from what I know it's a more light charecter, he's always so invelved in complex roles that will be nice to see him doing this one. Yes, fashiondream you right that guy is Baz and they workshopping for Gatsby, I hope it happens! I'am just waiting an Oscar nomination for Leo in Shutter Island, he was brilliant! Academy doens't look that much for the films that are released in the beggining of the year, but I hope so. Also heard that Inception have great chances on Oscar 2011.

This morning, Deadline reported she was one of a gaggle of gorgeous Hollywood A-listers being considered for the pivotal role of Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" adaptation, which reportedly has Leonardo DiCaprio in line for the Jay Gatsby role and Tobey Maguire.On the "Gatsby" front, Rebecca Hall (Johansson's uptight pal from "Vicky Cristina Barcelona") recently joined DiCaprio and Maguire for a workshop read of the script. But Luhrmann reportedly also wants Keira Knightley, Natalie Portman, Amanda Seyfried, Blake Lively, Michelle Williams, Abbie Cornish and Johansson to read with DiCaprio before he decides.

Newly single Blake Lively dined with Leonardo DiCaprio at NYC eatery The Lion on Wednesday, an insider confirms to UsMagazine.com. (LaineyGossip.com first reported the sighting.)

But Lively, 23, and DiCaprio, 35, weren't alone. "It was an 8 person dinner," the insider explains, adding that director Baz Luhrmann was in attendance.

And the meal was strictly business: DiCaprio has been cast as Jay Gatsby in Luhrman's adaptation of The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic book -- and Lively is being strongly considered for the role of Gatsby's love, Daisy Buchanan.

The director's "whole crew was there," the source says, adding that DiCaprio and Lively "didn't leave together."

Lively would have to fight off strong competition to win the role of Daisy. Scarlett Johanson, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley and Michelle Williams are also contenders, according to Deadline.

Leonardo DiCaprio's next big drama won't play out in a courtroom.

The woman accused of attacked him with a beer bottle at a party five years ago has decided to cop a plea, ending any chance the A-lister will pop up on the the witness stand.

"We believe we have a plea deal in place," Aretha Wilson's lawyer Freddy Sayegh told E! News after a scheduled court appearance this morning in L.A.

Prosecutors had offered two years in jail, but Sayegh said he is trying to finalize details on time served.

"We believe we have a strong self-defense claim, but the reason she's taking the plea is that she can be released tomorrow. So why go to trial?"

The D.A. declined to comment, saying the matter will be taken up before a judge on Friday.

Sayegh is scrambling to work out details with Canadian and U.S. authorities to get a sentence of time served for his client, who has logged almost a year of house arrest in Canada on a separate assault charge, five months in an L.A. jail and 45 days in Canadian custody, which includes transport to the U.S. for the charge.

There's a pic from last month(OCTOBER 12, 2010) of Leo and Bar's mom at the san diego safari park in california. (the person didn't get a good shot of leo unfortunately lol..but still sweet) We know Bar and her mom were in LA last month... so it's cool that they went out and had fun at the zooo awwww. :heart:
