BAZ LUHRMANN'S GREAT GATSBY: 'BETTER THAN THE BOOK'

The long awaited adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's superb novel The Great Gatsby is to be released in 2013 and stars Leonardo di Caprio as the eponymous Gatsby, Spiderman as Nick Carraway and Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan. But Baz Luhrmann has had a sneak preview and has announced to the world that it is 'better than the book'.

'We are all great fans of the book,' said the Moulin Rouge and Australia creator. 'But the film is much better. I mean what is a book after all, it's like words and then there are punctuation marks and then someone has written 'irony?' in the margin. Whereas my film has music and like babes and Leo. I mean Leo.'

Luhrmann had made similar claims when promoting Romeo + Juliet, stating Shakespeare was a bald creep who knew nothing about the three act structure: 'He uses five acts!' Criticisms he later used on an early uncredited draft of Anonymous.

Luhrmann speaking today said:

It's an evoluition really. First you have cave paintings and then you have plays, poetry, books and then pop up books. Then films and then 3D films which are to films what pop up books are to films.
The Great Gatsby
was all right as a book but this is going to be great. Just like a did with Romeo+Juliet and just as I did with
Australia
which was tit high better than the continent.

Comments about new international Django Unchained poster

Ever since winning the Palme d'Or with Pulp Fiction at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival, international sales for every one of Quentin Tarantino's subsequent films has doubled the domestic numbers. As big a star-director as they come, his films are not only going to deliver bigger returns across the globe but the marketing also often outshines what's found at home.

The post-52324-0-1446084214-27679_thumb.jpg for Django Unchained released just the other day might be the best yet, and this new Argentinian poster also gives any of the American one-sheets a run for their money. Cine 1 shared the new look and in case you're wondering, "Tomaron su libertad, ahora él tomará el control" loosely translates (I say loosely because no hablo Español) to "They took his freedom, now he takes control."

A simple but effective design at once reminiscent of the Spaghetti Westerns that Tarantino will be (at least partially) trying to emulate and also painting a pretty bleak picture. The cold, concrete grey behind our heroes, Academy Award winners Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz, contrasts nicely with Leonardo DiCaprio's devilish villain soaked in red. It also obviously invokes ideas of a gun shot/bullet hole (and blood splatter) but I can't help but think of the rising (or setting) sun as well. Pretty rad.

Another Leo wax figure was done, they claim will the best and the one that resembles Leo the most, I hope so.

LAS VEGAS - You would swear you were looking into the real face of Leonardo DiCaprio. The popular actor's wax figure at Madame Tussauds at the Venetian is more real and natural than the other wax celebrities nearby.

The disco lights at Madame Tussauds hang over the likenesses of Bradley Cooper, Eva Longoria, Will Smith and hundreds of other famous figures. All the wax figures have been carefully crafted with the same high-quality, traditional wax process, but Leo - like his real life twin - is proudly eco-different.

"We used organic pigment to produce coloring on the figure. That isn't usually done, but we wanted to make sure that in honor of his environmental efforts, that we were honoring him as a true environmentalist," said Madame Tussauds Las Vegas General Manager Rosita Chapman.

Chapman thinks Brad Pitt and George Clooney are a little green with envy. From its inception, the Leo wax figure included planet-friendly, natural clay and beeswax materials. Artists worked with their hands under natural daylight to save electricity.

They even traveled to and from work via public transportation or bicycle. All leftover materials were recycled. It sounds like a titanic undertaking, but artists stayed on schedule and on budget.

"I think it's one of those unique facts that people would find very interesting and very entertaining," Chapman said.

Catch Leo if you can at this weekend's After Dark Halloween event at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas. The entire attraction is turning into one big haunted house of wax and live spirits.

The event runs October 26th through October 28th from 9 p.m. to midnight.

CLAIM: Leonardo DiCaprio & Gerard Butler’s “Bromance” Ends Over A Woman

Gerard Butler and Leonardo DiCaprio’s bromance is on the rocks — over a woman,” claims Star.

What allegedly happened?

According to the tab, Butler “has gotten hot and heavy with Romanian-born model Madalina Ghenea,” and DiCaprio — who allegedly “dated” her last year — feels “betrayed.”

“For some reason it just hit Leo the wrong way,” a so-called “friend” tells the mag, adding, “He wasn’t extremely serious with Madalina but they certainly had a connection.”

The source goes on to reveal that DiCaprio was so upset, he allegedly “confronted” Butler to “ask why he would want sloppy seconds.”

Butler “apologized,” alleges the tab’s source, “and explained that he and Madalina had had an instant connection.”

(Apparently, no one feels anything other than a “connection” with Ghenea.)

Still, despite the apology, DiCaprio is “miffed,” says Star.

Seriously?

Hardly.

And last we checked, DiCaprio was dating model Erin Heatherton.

Regardless, a source close to DiCaprio tells Gossip Cop that the stars’ alleged feud over Ghenea is “false” and totally “made up.”
