As Speaker, the power to choose which bills come to vote in the House is hers, so her power to effectively limit Republican legislation is unquestioned.World power, though? US law forbids her from engaging in foreign affairs, as that is the chief domain of the executive branch and the President (and his representatives). Her visit to the Middle East was controversial, and in many ways illegal, but didn't seem to anger too many people.
