  1. Money is one thing (and even rich people care about it - though you're right, it's not the case all of the time), but there's also the reputation. The media and twitter mobs are good at destroying people's reputations. What's your take? How do you explain his backing out?

  3. I saw a news outlet quoting wikipedia recnently................ these guys don't know what they're talking about: Star wars used to be a disgusting thing for them, they thought of it as a "geek thing" and pop culture (and they consider themselves above pop culture). Now, they only care about it because they want to wage cultural wars
  4. The washington post has become a joke like too many newspapers. It's an infernal spiral: they lose money because of the internet, then they get budget cuts, which then means the articles are less investigative and less serious.... Then, they lose more money because people don't read them anymore... and here goes, again and again. Some think that becoming politically correct is the only way to save their business, but they're wrong. Doing your job is usually the best way to save your business.
  5. He got afraid of the bad advertisement. When a famous person sees that there is a small doubt about their "political integrity", they usually cave because they're afraid of twitter mobs and the thought police in the media. That's bad advertisement and they think it's bad for business. Self-censorship is the goal of all totalitarian ideologies
  6. He's a professor, so he should teach diversity of thought and critical thinking. That's what the Humanites used to teach since the Age of Enlightment, but unfortunaltey it's fading away, these days, under the pressure of PC trends. PC is not a nice ideology that wants better things for the world, it's a coercion that is used to exert moral power. So, naturally, the proponents of this trend (like this professor) will criminalize different opinions (or at least they will forbid them).
  7. I usually don't watch these ceremonies (I find them a bit bland), but, this year, Ricky Gervais made it really interesting!

  9. Journalists wonder why they are one of the most distrusted profession. Maybe that's because a lot of them behave like pricks, privileged citizens who think that they are owed the world (probably because of their constant virtue signalling). Also, this "journalist" shamed an employee that honestly tried to do her job.

I had forgotten the series was in peril in 2018! Anyway, the Expanse is living proof that when a show has good writing, good characters and they respect the fans, then the fans reciprocate, show their love and save the show! Fans are not toxic, fans are love when they are respected (Hear that Kathleen Kennedy or Rian Johnson? )
