Prime's LotR is another woke show. It's another gender swap / race swap mess. Punishing people for their skin color or gender is these people's creed. And lots of viewers hate it.

Sure, because it seems you agree with Woke. For you, it's just a natural thing to gender swap or race swap roles. You think that males have privileges and it's OK to punish them for it. That's your creed, so of course you can't criticize it. Like you can't criticize CRT. Like Sartre couldn't criticize his Muscovite friends. But you're a smart guy, so I'm sure that one day (I don't know when) you'll realize that this woke mess is not only divisive, but also a promoter of bad creativity. Poor quality and wokeness go hand in hand, because one feeds the other.

The Witcher is a great example. Beloved franchise. But the showrunner (who's woke af) decided to tweak the story, gender swap, race swap, make it all about identity politics. I forced myself to watch it (and I even didn't mind the swaps at first), but when writers are obsessed with identity politics over good story telling, then these shows fail. You can add as much "trans non-binary whatever" as you want, it won't help the show. I can even say that it will sink it.

You just can't admit that Woke has anything to do with it. It's like a mental block. You are so enamoured with Woke politics you can't admit they fail. We've learned nothing from the 20th century. There's been 50+ communist republics. All of them failed. Most of them had mass killings, but philophers like Sartre could never admit they failed. Never. Netflix is a woke temple. Many people say that, but you can't admit it had any role in it...

Asian culture has a big emphasis on the collective (vs. the individual). The collective is key there. That's linked to this work ethic you talk about. The smothering of the individual is what will make the Chinese Communist Party fall (maybe in 10,20, 30+ years...) The West used to be a perfect balance between collective and individual, but in the past 20 years, it's become massively individualistic, which is quite destabilizing for folks. Too much individualism (what we call the "McDonald's society" in France) makes people empty, then they crave for transcendence and collective goals. Woke is one of the answer to fill this void and it's a BAD answer because it's just a "everybody vs. everybody doctrine". Big companies might think Woke will help them sell products, but I think that it'll foster their demise and the resentment of many people against the USA. But that's just my opinion, the opinion of another random guy on the internet....

Maybe, but what happens in Shanghai is crazy. People are locked in their homes, they can't go outside, agents of the government randomly control homes and hit people, drones and dog robots (yes, robo-dogs...) tell them to comply. What will matter during this vote are: - consumer power purchase - law enforcement issues - immigration / integration issues - environmental issues - what happened during the last two years of pandemic 5 years ago, Le Pen lost by huge margin. Whatever happens this year, her score will be higher : - Partly because some people think that safety, immigration and macroeconomics issues haven't been addressed in the past 20 years. - Partly because lots of people have been shocked by the lockdown policies (and the multiple change in positions) during covid. Lots of young folks don't understand why they've been jailed after the 1st lockdown (the 1st time, everybody agreed, but then the consensus started to break during the 5 following lockdowns, cufews, mandates, etc.) (and that's not my opinion, that's what I see and hear every day)
