Oklahoma's lieutenant governor attends 'Killers of the Flower Moon' premiere https://www.koco.com/amp/article/killers-of-the-flower-moon-martin-scorsese-leonardo-dicaprio-premiere-cannes/43951722 This is like a spit in the face. He and the governor have tried so hard to destroy Osage, Cherokee, and Creek Nations these past four years. 😡 His attendance here is disgusting.

Thank you for posting this. Reading Chief Gray’s words is comforting in that it appears the film was done “right”. The Osage Nation and other Oklahoma indigenous nations worked very hard on this film.

Thanks @Jade Bahrand everyone for all the pics and links, and videos. I can’t wait to be able to see this film for myself. It’s exciting to see Leo “working”. I’m ready to see some Leo interviews about the film now! Let’s not forget the reason behind the film. People who are not indigenous will view the film as history, but it’s not. It still occurs here in Oklahoma everyday. Part of my job is to complete competency evaluations on indigenous prisoners, and I see the corruption and injustice all similar to what is portrayed in this film. Even the little things like this article I saw when I got my mail today are designed to remind the indigenous how insignificantly we are viewed. It’s exciting to see Leo, but don’t forget the truth of the film.

The accent Leo is using is more of an Oklahoma accent than a Texas accent. Which Ernest did come from Texas and Leo is not really using a Texas accent really at all. Maybe North Texas close to Oklahoma, but that’s still a stretch. It comes down to how drawn out the vowels are, the sounds of the R, and drawn out syllable sounds.

LOL! Yeah. @Jade Bahr, I’m not sure that I could effectively explain what I hear. Oklahoma has a diverse range of accents depending on which part of the state you are in. It’s just that I was born and raised here and I have the same accent Leo is trying to portray and to my ears, it’s not quite right. It’s not bad, just not perfect and yeah, a little weird. Maybe listen to videos of Reba McIntyre, Garth Brooks, or Blake Shelton to hear Oklahoma accents.

Finally!!! Looks like it’s going to be a tough film for some of us to watch, but the trailer looks great! Leo’s accent is a little off, but still pretty damn good!

There are longer videos out there, but here is a sample. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRwd2nFA/ You know what’s good about sharing a name with Marty? I get to hear Leo say my name over and over again. 😍

They are currently filming Twister here in Oklahoma and all the daily calls for extras and speaking roles and film stuff happening all around is really making me nostalgic for when Leo was here. All of us Oklahoma indigenous people cannot wait to be able to view the completed KOTFM film.
