Yep. That’s exactly what I meant. 😊 But, it is guaranteed that it will piss off some in the white community and it will piss off some in the Indigenous community when it comes out. Just be prepared for that.

If you remember, “additional shooting” on the film took place in Pawhuska, Oklahoma back in May. Then we had more reshoots in mid-August, this time in New York City. That’s just what we know of. There have been rumors of extra shooting having taken place a third time back in Oklahoma. Back to Gladstone. That quote in itself is fascinating in more ways than one. Firstly, it tells me that Scorsese wanted an authentic portrayal of Oklahoma’s Osage Community. Osage Nation chief, Geoffrey Standing Bear, even served as a consultant on the movie. It’s quite obvious that the Osage Nation ended up changing ‘Flower Moon’ from what Scorsese originally planned. However, immediately after reading what Gladstone said about the film, I couldn’t help but remember what someone had commented just a few months ago on this very site about the reasons for the persistent delays with “Killers of the Flower Moon.” The main reason for the reshoots is fear of the political optics of the film and the fear of how mainstream critics will respond to it, as well as the various thought-pieces that will ensue. The issue is that the film primarily focuses on white characters, with the only non-white person with a very significant role being Lily Gladstone, who is given a very submissive role... You'll understand what I mean if you read the book, but she has a ghoulish presence throughout. However, the plot does basically focus on a white savior (Jesse Plemons) and a "complex bigot" (DiCaprio). The reshoots primarily focused on placing certain scenes to give the non-white characters a more substantial role. The plan WAS to premiere it this year as Apple's main priority. I could just be over-analyzing Gladstone’s quote, but obviously in today’s climate, if you’re representing a minority group on screen and they personally come up to you with concerns about how they are being portrayed, you need to listen to them. You don’t want them to bad-mouth your representation of them — the optics would be terrible. Scorsese did the right thing. However, is the movie that he ended up making better than the original vision that he had? I’ve been hearing for a few months now that Paramount and Apple are ecstatic about what they’ve seen so far with ‘Flower Moon,’ so hopefully Scorsese has indeed delivered. Source However giving Lily Gladstone the first "official" voice for the movie isn't the worst pr move. Also thx so much to all for your recovery messages I believe I said the exact same thing not too long ago about the delay. Our current governor in Oklahoma has waged political war on the tribes. The current climate is extremely tense.

I had a blast when they were filming KOTFM here! Now I just wish they would hurry up and release the film.

I went to college with and used to hang out a lot with James Marsden. Haven’t had contact with him in several years though, dang it. Maybe I should call him up, “Hey, Jimmy! Remember me? Any Leo parties coming up you could get me into?” 😁

I looked today and couldn’t find it either. Must not be out yet.

I absolutely agree with you regarding Marty and Leo, but I can see Apple demanding it be done and Marty refusing and then Apple pulling it or postponing it a couple more years.

Don’t know how much you all care about this, but right now there are cases being presented before the US Supreme Court between Oklahoma and tribal governments. Our current governor is working hard to strip tribes of our sovereignty and take over our land. Things are extremely volatile politically right now between the Tribes and Oklahoma government.

I’m not worried about Leo, but I can see Apple pulling the movie.

Obviously, I have not screened the movie, but here in Oklahoma, our indigenous community is afraid the truth will be white washed to protect the Caucasian community and the Caucasian community has banned the book from schools, because it makes them feel uncomfortable. Read into all of that whatever you wish regarding the politics of the movie.

True, but in grad school, I used the same audio technique. Sooo much to read and sooo many other things to do that I learned very quickly I needed a way to multitask. I could listen to my textbooks in the car, or airplane, or while I was walking the dog, cleaning house, riding a bike, exercising, etc. Even though I’m a fast reader the audio technique came in handy and allowed me to get much more done in life. Of course, I’m just guessing as to why Leo may do it.

Based on things Leo himself has said many years ago, he enjoys reading, something he got from his dad who Leo has said is very well read and often recommends books to Leo. I suspect nowadays Leo is busy and isn’t able to read as much as he was able to when he was younger, so he’s found a great way to multitask. If every single script in Hollywood passes through him first, that’s a lot of reading he has to do in a short amount of time. Good for him for figuring out a way to accomplish that while doing other things. I also suspect all of his so called “partying” is actually just him working. Going to all these events is more than likely where he networks, hears about, is approached with, and closes a majority of his deals. It’s his job and that’s his office. He’s not partying, he’s working.

Apparently, these rumors have been around for a few years, but I just heard about it. Has anyone else heard about convicted child sex offender Brian Peck allegedly molesting Leo when they both worked on Growing Pains? And, the anonymous lawsuit against Brian that many people believe is Leo’s lawsuit?
