Barbara Cluskey aka Barbara O'Reilly Hyland
Constance Harris -3 Apr 2011 independent.ie "In the early Eighties, when I entered secondary school, there was constant reference to the fact that 50 per cent of Ireland's population was aged 25 and under and that this was a great resource for the country's future as the other 50 per cent was obviously older. It was also in this period that I first met the stunningly beautiful model, Barbara Cluskey. A cross between Lindsay Wagner -- she of the Bionic Woman and Scruples fame -- and Farrah Fawcett of Charlie's Angels, Barbara was the epitome of a cosmopolitan standard of beauty and sophistication we in Ireland just did not usually possess. And Barbara made it abroad, too, emphasising how special she was, returning to Ireland when she had done what she needed to do and was ready to marry and settle down, becoming Barbara O'Reilly Hyland and mother to a gorgeous son".

-- Interview with Milena -- bremagazine.it "Milena was a girl who did not translate the classic Junoesque canons typical of southern Italy. She had very long legs, she was very thin, she showed a slender and delicate silhouette, long blond hair and two eyes as blue as her sea. In short, I was completely different from all the other girls of my age. My physicality represented a real opportunity for mockery. I dived into the waters of Procida wearing jeans, to hide that much-discussed thinness, clashing every day with a fierce and demeaning insecurity. I really experienced a complex that I managed to overcome only a few years later. During the summer I went to Rome for the casting of "Piazza di Spagna", a world-wide event particularly influential for the fashion industry. I was immediately hired to model for the Fendi sisters and I found myself on the catwalk with the great top models of the world, Claudia Shiffer, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford. I was a child, they were great icons. That was a great beginning that soon led me to model for the most famous brands in the world in every corner of the world. Then I returned to Procida. In my Procida, wearing a miniskirt, showing off my legs so thin but with a new awareness, acceptance. From that moment I defeated my doubts and all my uncertainties, I learned to love myself and recognize the beauty that was in me, gaining that confidence that allowed me to face the world. Even today I thank the world of fashion for having given me awareness, an awareness that every woman, looking in the mirror should achieve. My life was further enriched thanks to the presence of an extraordinary man who later became my husband and with whom at twenty-six I began to build a family. From that moment, slowing down my modeling career I decided to convert all my passion into Margherita B. the brand that I created 18 years ago declined to the highest quality cashmere knitwear and which today is a company in all respects".
