^ I think you’re seriously underestimating how much brands value social media followings now in the industry. There are plenty of instances now when a model will go for a casting (either campaign or runway) and be asked to include the number of IG followers they have on their sign in sheets. Social media is basically free advertising for a brand. It doesn’t cost them anything, and they can potentially reach hundreds of thousands of consumers. And yes, there are plenty of teenagers on IG, but the 18-35 year old demographic is also very strong on IG, and that’s a key market for VS. It’s not the end all be all, but it’s certainly a helpful tool for a brand like VS. Why do you think girls like Kendall and Gigi get a free pass to the show? Their following means they bring press. It’s even little things. Someone who wasn’t watching the VSFS might see Adriana or Candice trending on twitter, and click through to see the images etc. -
I think not being cast one year is what started this obsession. She didn’t make the 2015 show, and then during the lead up to the 2016 show is when I noticed her really kick her workouts and diet into high gear. Then she got cast for 2016, and probably believes it was her dedication to working out and egg whites that landed her her spot so she went even harder this year.

That’s fair! I also think part of my problem is that VS bras just aren’t as pretty as they used to be. Looking back at past shows, even just a couple years ago, there were a lot more of their lacy, beautiful bras and this year was a lot of the solid colour, rather simple bras. Dilone’s bra and panty set in Goddess was my favourite, so hopefully I can find that in my store!

They don’t selll swimwear now outside of Pink, so no swim special.

I wish they would go back to actually creating something out of the bras and panties instead of just using them as a layering piece. I know the whole point is to advertise their collections, but they can use the bras as a base and embellish them. I don't think they used a single bra or underwear this year that you couldn't buy directly from the store as is?

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2017 (HQs) - thanks Pretty
ph: Russell James (NYC) - lingerie shoot Valentine's Campaign - Elsa - Sara - Stella - Martha - Jasmine - Lily - Romee - Josephine - Taylor Elsa, Martha and Lais also did some extra Vday stuff that wasn’t for the main shoot with Russell. Lais didn’t shoot with Russell as she left for China that day for show promo.
The press days should be happening around Monday. Maybe a little bit on Thurs/Friday. I know Jasmine and Adriana are booked for a late night show, although I can’t remember which one. But it’ll be interesting to see which girls do press if some of them take extended vacations. Elsa is going to Japan with her boyfriend.
I mean, the weight/shape of her wings doesn’t really change the fact that her walk was awful, and plenty of models have proven that they can still make that style of wing work and look good. Jo just can’t handle the wings. Like someone said, Ale always handles her wings like a pro. She had those 30lb metal wings that were shaped like a disc and would have probably had some drag.
