The new alien show IMHO is very promising and interesting but they have made similar creative decisions as reboot Alien Romulus. They seem to be aiming the franchise/ show at a youth crowd so they have a lot of kids as protagonists like in Romulus. They also assume that the people watching never seen classics like Alien, Aliens, Blade runner etc.. so to veterans of the genre it is rather irritating. Overall the show would have been objectively better if they aimed it at adults who are fans of the franchise. They don't need to re-explain what a Xenomorph is- everyone knows. It is also interesting that they are using a lot of cyborgs/syths in this show like in Blade Runner- if they used adult characters it would have been better too.

The way the Chinese CCP politically-driven growth system works is they turn the nation into a "mayor economy" whose tenure relies on stimulating GDP growth. The vast majority of CCP politicians are also engineers (rather than lawyers in the US). This is overall is way more effective than the US method although it brings in a different set of problems. I do wonder if the US will ever drop its hubris and try to learn from other countries..

Revisiting the stories for the Metal Gear Solid games. MGS3's remake is coming out soon. MGS2's story was amazing and was far ahead of its time 20 years ago. I remember when I played it, and finished it maybe 3 times I admired it a lot but felt that the cutscenes were really excessive. I always felt that the original MGS had a much better balanced story with gameplay. Back then this game was kind of polarizing because a lot of people didn't understand the high IQ story. Now revisiting it again I pick up way more nuance than I did back then. It's really detailed and shows what kind of a genius Kojima was. The game's cutscenes however are so long compared to gameplay that it's almost more like an interactive movie. They really should re-make this too. It seems overall that Kojima was more creatively gifted in his youth and in her later years- Death stranding while very creative and interesting is nowhere near MGS

Revisiting this after 20 years. Just an awesome, genius level story for a game- one of the best game stories ever made. Kojima probably peaked with MGS1-MGS3 and never got his mojo back. MGS4 was brilliant too but suffered from a lot of excess and cheese. Death Stranding is original but nowhere near as interesting as MGS.

I'm going to dye my hair as an experiment (bottle dye). My hair is long, currently down to my shoulders. I have black and white hair. My hair genetics (pigmentation only) hit the wall in recent years. I usually dye my hair black but I let the black & white roots grow out. So if dye it light blonde it would (probably) come out light brown and light blonde. If I don't like the result, I will just dye it again light brown and cover it up.

It looks like the Epstein files will be forgotten over time. Trump is just ignoring it and he understands that media cycles will close.

It's being reported that: 1. Putin indeed wants Ukraine to retreat from the 'fortress belt'. Also the frontline is to be frozen in the south (Z and K Oblasts) despite Russia not occupying the entire thing. Putin wants to recognize the new borders as part of Russia by the US. Zelensky is likely to be the next meeting. Overall this is 1. bare minimalist conditions for Putin to declare victory in the war to his domestic audience by getting Ukraine to retreat from the most heavily fortified region in Ukraine outside of Odessa. 2. If Zelensky's gov't agrees to this it is tantamount to announcing that they lost the war. Zelensky might even get assassinated down the line. Frankly this sounds like a super fragile deal if it goes through. IF the next US administration is Democrat they could easily discard the deal. Also Russia could invade again later.
