If you side with Sven and kill the leshen, when you return to the village after the battle of Kaer Morhen, the village is empty and abandoned/ possibly massacred. But if you side with the elder and do the ritual, the inhabitants will remain there in the next act. It shows that the Leshen was protecting them from the outsider forces."

Finished Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The 3rd Novella is the best one but all three are very competently paced and constructed, but not all that memorable. This is another series that GRRM will probably never finish. He actually has the planning/outline for 6 more novellas left..
