  1. When's it supposed to be announced?
  2. Apart from gifs, those arguments are what I have to offer. I'd be more than happy to only feel like I have to post the former. And I will, once we get more substantial videos, of course. Almost certainly starting with Nina.
  3. Word of advice: Cynicism can take on the appearance of wisdom, but it only serves to make us complicit in our own ignorance. See also, assuming people who have different beliefs than you are "indoctrinated." Please.
  4. By showcasing a broader variety of body types, SI (if they have any influence on such things at all, and even if they don't, they have a responsibility to try) can expand our culture's idea of what "the best of the best" looks like. That's the entire point. Our very concept of what "the best of the best" has to look like has been shaped by culture, it did not spring out of the ground. An introductory art history course would prove this point adequately to anyone with eyes. People like to cry about political correctness, imagining themselves to be in an era uniquely concerned with things they see as irrelevant distractions taken "too seriously." Truth is this has always been the case. People were calling the idea that women can work for a living the equivalent of "politically correct" back when that idea was controversial. It was also "politically correct" to oppose apartheid. Progressives, like those who would nod approvingly at this issue, have been dismissed as naive do-gooders since the dawn of modern politics. Yet we all benefit from the legacy of their victories, even those who yearn for a return to the past dare not go too far back. Thus, what is dismissed as "political correct" will with luck in some future decade be the status quo. Every issue will have an Ashley Graham or two. And there will be all new things for stubborn people to complain about, perhaps a trans woman (Playboy beat them to the punch there) or God forbid, a woman older than 45. So history goes, provided people in power continue to give a shit.
  5. The only place I ever go that 1) Has an opinion on Chrissy, 2) Is negative, is here. Within the mainstream she seems plenty popular? That's always been the case as I've seen it. I doubt it's going to change.

  7. She's perfectly fine but she's no Denise Schaefer.
  8. If a poll looks rigged, it probably is, and every SI rookie vote has looked rigged. I'm not even talking about the eventual outcome, and how likely it may or may not have been, but the way the polling behaved.
  9. Hey some more because if she feels the Bern, so should we!
  10. Probably. But I wasn't sure of a better example, and that's something the Clinton camp would (try to) deny. Anyway owing to the endorsement I went back and made some (old) gifs. Yay.
  11. Is anyone else bored? I'm bored. I'm gonna go make more gifs.
  12. 1. If someone posts a bunch of times about how another person is "overweighted," they are a hater 2. jj3 posts a bunch of times about how Ashley Graham is "overweighted" ____ 3. jj3 is a hater The way I create my logic seems valid and sound to me. Both premises are true and the conclusion follows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  13. The most recent one comes out of UCLA and was published in a peer-reviewed academic journal of actual medical researchers (link). As for the rest of it, I'm suggesting that "political correctness" as such does not exist. It's an empty rhetorical device used to justify hate speech under the guise of speaking truth to power. But hey, you're the one citing "PC" so you can talk shit about Ashley Graham. If you want to be mad on the internet in a thread that was, mere weeks ago, shitposting spiders, go nuts. I just wanted to point out in my own way what you were doing. I've said my piece.
  14. For what it's worth, a new study asserting BMI is bullshit gets published about as often as the standard edition of Sports Illustrated. So yeah. But talk of BMI or "health" in the context of this announcement is, as I'm sure most are aware, pure concern trolling. One friendly tip: Claiming to oppose "political correctness" is a rhetorical tool of the political right that attempts to discredit social justice, and treating people who are different with respect, as insincere and cynical acts. Deploying it in defense of one's own statements is to call the Trumps, Farages, and Le Pens to your aid. You're saying, "No, actually, it's right to punch down." So, good luck with that.
  15. I'll (roughly) translate the American Presidential candidates into European parties, for our European friends: Trump: National Front (France) Sanders: Social Democrats (Germany) <---who Emily endorsed Clinton: Labour circa Tony Blair (UK) Cruz & Carson: Justice and Development (Turkey) Rubio, Bush, Kasich, etc: Tories (UK) Anyway that's enough politics from me in this thread, but in fairness, Ms. Ratajkowski did bring it up.
  16. Taxes are good. They pay for things people need. Like college, and health care. Emily understands this. You should listen to Emily.
  17. Democratic socialism is good and cool, though. Much respect to Emily for endorsing the right candidate.
  18. On some fundamental level they pick every model "for publicity." If it is the case here, it's also the case with a Gigi Hadid cover, or popular athletes' hot wives, athletes who were memes (Jenneke) or with big name recognition (Rousey), etc.
  19. I think Jose Moran played third base for the Phillies.
  20. I appreciate everything Daniela and and Danielle bring to the table, but they ought to switch positions in that pose.
  21. From Pt.2 - Yoga from Khoa Bui Feel free to use the square B&W one as an avatar w/o permission.
