I think the arctic shoot was Bojana’s best shot at getting the cover. The environment showcased Bojana in a different light. I don’t think that she has much of a chance to land the cover with a beach shoot because the competition is so tough in that area. I see Barbara and Vita as future cover models although Vita with the caveat that they can get the perfect shot where her body’s awkwardness is disguised. Barbara’s set is cover model worthy. However, I’m not disappointed that Barbara didn’t get the cover. To me, this is her calling card to getting the cover next year. I think she got in the magazine and won Rookie of the Year mainly because of her potential and her name but now she has delivered on that promise. I can only be happy about her shoot, I have no complaints even though she isn’t on the cover. Her shoot is that good. I think this has showed the naysayers why she is at the top and deserving of her status as a SI model. If she gets the cover at one point, this shoot is proof that she isn’t handed things just because she is Barbara Palvin. I can envision a duo cover of Bojana and Hailey, two smoking hot models and a freezing background. A brunette and a blonde plus raw sexuality. But I don’t think that Hailey is the type of a cover model to be on the cover twice in a row. I think things worked out for Hailey the way they were supposed to because if she hadn’t been on the cover last year, I still don’t think that she would have been chosen over Kate this year. I find it a bit odd that Bojana and Hailey had two shoots but maybe the SI team wasn’t confident about how that arctic shoot would translate so they wanted to give Bojana and Hailey a fair shot at getting amazing pictures at a beach location. (And fair shots at getting the cover especially if the shoots were booked before SI knew that Kate was coming back.) I wanted Kate to get the cover three times for her legacy. Kate is their newest superstar and something like that happens very rarely even for SI. I think SI missed out when they didn’t recognize that by putting Kate on the cover three times in a row ala Elle MacPherson. So, this fixes it in a way i.e. Kate’s return is such a big deal for SI, a cause for celebration that she gets the cover with three versions! And that is right, I think that years from now Kate will be remembered and associated with SI like Elle MacPherson, Christie Brinkley, Kathy Ireland etc. are now. Hannah Ferguson has a chance to get the cover in the future if she can get back to a softer look and gets that lucky break of having a combination of a great location, weather, photographer, styling etc. I think Rose Bertam is in danger of becoming the next Jessica Gomes i.e. back year after year but never lands the cover. Fortunately, Rose is modelling for L’Oréal so I think that her route to getting the cover could be by increasing her popularity outside of SI.

I love the Bojana & Hailey shoot. Bojana looks great in her beach shots as well but Hailey’s legacy as a returning cover model would have stayed intact better if the beach shoot hadn’t happened because those shots are too generic. Barbara’s set stands out, the colours pop and her poses are clearly more SI whereas last year was a bit of a disappointment, the shoot wasn’t as sexy and full on bikini shoot as I had hoped. I think Barbara felt in her element this year whereas she was a bit unsure last year. Vita also looks great, yeah, her boobs are an issue but I can overlook it because of the overall quality of her pictures. For some reason, the preview pics that were released of Vita looked awkward facially but there seems to be a lot of pictures where that is not an issue whatsoever. I need to look over all the models later but so far Barbara, Bojana (arctic), Hailey (arctic), Vita and Kate’s shoots stand out the most.

From what I’ve seen, Barbara looks amazing and stands out from the rest. Those pastel swimsuits really compliment her. She is earning her way to the cover!

I agree, both Bojana and Hailey look incredible in that environment whereas Hailey’s beach pictures don’t seem to differ much from her other shoots. So Bojana and/or Hailey not being on the cover must come down to which personality they want on the cover rather than how great the shoot was.

I think Kate deserves to be on the cover three times because she is the biggest star SI has produced in the last few years. Elle MacPherson was on the cover three times in a row. Kate being on the back cover when Nina, Chrissy and Lily got the front cover was a bit shady.

To vote for her, I’d have to overlook her titties. I swear a lot of these girls with bad boob jobs are deluded about their breasts. Mia, Hannah Davis, Samantha Hoopes, Vita Sidorkina etc.

I agree it’s about being single but if she knew she got the cover, I think she’d be too excited to post stuff like that.

Well, next year! I’ve had my eye on Barbara getting the cover in her third year all the way back when she was a rookie (while of course welcoming her getting it earlier). But if she doesn’t get it next year, then that is bad news because I don’t get the feeling that she would necessarily hang around for a 5th year, 7th year etc. without a cover.

But she could have improved from that. I think the shoot was her first swimsuit shoot in two years. Her body looked amazing in the picture taken with young fans at Curaçao so maybe she toned up and felt more confident and comfortable to do a super sexy shoot in bikinis (or less).

Instagram doesn’t do nipples. Maybe there was too much “nudity”? I’d like to know what triggered the YouTube account being deleted for a while. A lot of the titles are double entendres and the models seem to be topless more often than wearing a suit. It made me wonder whether top models know what SI is like these days. And are some put off by it so they don’t want to get in the magazine?

Still hoping that the cover goes to one of these three: Hannah Ferguson, Rose Bertram or Barbara Palvin. I can see justifications for why each woman would be a good choice for the cover. Hannah Ferguson: long-standing work for SI, embodying the SI girl look. Barbara Palvin: a top model, huge potential to go to the next level in her career, in the public’s eye and SI getting a lot of credit for it. Rose Bertram: someone with a different look, non-white, no past cover model looks like her.

I have a good feeling about this!
