Ataui Deng, a Sundanese model who has lived and worked in New York since 2008, has gone missing. On Monday afternoon fashion industry insiders, like fellow Sudanese model Ajak Deng --who appeared in a Benetton spread with Deng--and Deng's friend Roblé, asked for the public's help locating the model on Instagram. According to the NYPD, Deng, who lives on the Lower East Side, went missing around midnight on Wednesday, August 6. She was last seen leaving 251 W. 48th in Manhattan. In the NYPD bulletin the model, whose full legal name is Ataui Deng Hopkins, is described as six-foot-one-inches tall, 110 pounds with black hair, a dark complexion and a slim build. No clothing description was given. Deng has walked the runway for L'Wren Scott, Proenza Schouler and Zac Posen, and her face has graced the pages of Teen Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, according to her New York magazine profile. Anyone with any information about Deng's disappearance is asked to called Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-8477, or NYPDCrimeStoppers.com or text TIP577 to the number 274637. All calls are confidential.

Have New York City F.C. come out on top in the Xavi Hernandez sweepstakes? According to Spanish publication ‘Sport,’ the lifelong Barcelona product is set to make a move to the fledgling club on a three-year, multimillion dollar deal. That accord may come as soon as Monday, with an official signing on Thursday and an official announcement for the following Thursday. Three MLS teams were reportedly in the running for his signature; NYCFC, the New York Red Bulls and the Seattle Sounders. The Red Bulls spent much of the past two years connected to the player, but a source told EOS earlier this year that there was “no truth” to their pursuit of the Barcelona star during the winter transfer window. A league source reiterated that stance last week, claiming the club hasn’t been in the running for Xavi all year long. NYCFC, however, have been the lead suitor for some time now. His signature has been predicted almost on a weekly basis with various reports connected both parties. The midfielder is still under contract with Barcelona, but would be allowed to leave on a free transfer thanks to his years of service with the club. Xavi, 34, is reportedly looking for a sizable severance package before his exit, while Barcelona would also seek a tribute match prior to his departure. Per Sports’ report, talks have been amicable. The Barcelona great would be set to join former teammate David Villa, forming half of what could be the most formidable spine in all of Major League Soccer. The Terrassa native is the winningest player in Barcelona history, leading the club to seven titles, three UEFA Championships, two Copa Del Rey wins while also helping Spain to their first ever World Cup title. If signed, Xavi would become the fourth NYCFC player on roster behind Villa, former Montreal Impact defender Jeb Brovsky and journeyman goalkeeper, Josh Saunders.

The unexpected star of the World Cup finals, Colombia’s James Rodríguez, has signed for Real Madrid for a reported £63m. The 23-year-old follows the signing of another key midfielder from the World Cup, Germany’s Toni Kroos who joined for a bargain £20m, and will be given the No10 shirt which was last worn by Mesut Özil. He passed a medical in the Spanish capital on Tuesday morning and has agreed a six-year deal at the Bernabéu. He was presented to Real Madrid’s fans in their stadium on Tuesday night.

The actor James Garner has died at the age of 86, Los Angeles police have confirmed. Garner was best known for his primetime television roles as a wisecracking frontier gambler on Maverick and as an ex-con turned private eye on The Rockford Files. He built a six-decade career playing ruggedly charming, good-natured anti-heroes and received the highest honour of the Screen Actors Guild in 2004. The actor was found dead from natural causes on Saturday night at his Los Angeles home, according to police. No further details were immediately available about the circumstances of his death. The celebrity news website TMZ had reported earlier that an ambulance crew had been sent to Garner's home at about 8pm local time and had found him dead. Garner, an Oklahoma native, entered showbusiness in the 1950s after serving in the Korean war and first rose to fame on the TV western Maverick, a sardonic alternative to the more serious frontier shows then popular on American primetime. He was Bret Maverick, a cardsharp and ladies' man who got by on his wits and would just as soon duck a fight as face a showdown. His co-star Jack Kelly played his more straitlaced brother, Bart. Garner left the ABC show in 1960 in a contract dispute with producers but brought his Maverick-like alter ego to a series of films, including The Thrill of It All, Move Over Darling, The Great Escape and Support Your Local Sheriff! His next big hit was on the small screen in the 1970s, when he starred as the canny private detective Jim Rockford, a wrongly accused ex-convict starting life over in a beachfront trailer home in The Rockford Files. The show ran on NBC from 1974 until Garner abruptly quit the series in 1980. He reprised Rockford for several TV movies in the late 1990s. The role earned Garner an Emmy award in 1977. He also received an Oscar nomination for his work opposite Sally Field in the 1985 feature comedy Murphy's Romance.

And I think the Golden Glove should have gone to Ochoa. He did an amazing job. Tim Howard comes in at a close second.
