The first half of the year was dominated by the hit song 'Gee' and now 'Tell Me Your Wish' is becoming a hit and they're hitting 'consecutive home runs' If 'Gee' had 'Gee Gee Gee Gee~' repeating endlessly in an addictive manner and was a hook song, then 'Tell Me Your Wish' is a euro-pop-like and trendy dance song with many elements, slightly different from a hook song. When the song was released, musicians said, "Compared to 'Gee', it lacks the ability to capture the public", but it is a mere comment. Like 'Gee', after getting released, it became number 1 on various online&offline charts, showing the power of the 9 girls strongly. Matching the powerful beat of the song, the performance outfits are military look jackets and hot pants, showing off a tough and sexy charm. In 'Gee', there were color skinny jeans, cautiously showing off the curves of the girls and this time, SNSD will wear refreshing outfits to match with the summer and with powerful stage performances, they will cause the hearts of male fans to flutter. Then what are the wishes of the 9 girls that say, 'I'm wanting to answer your wishes, Your goddess of fortune' and 'Tell Me Your Wish~'? Through this interview, we found out what their wishes were. ◇Taeyeon I want to have a SNSD concert. We haven't had a SNSD concert yet. We want to have a stage just for us. All the fans will come to the concert just to see SNSD. Also, how content would we be if all of the staff worked only for us? To achieve that, a lot of hard work and preparation would be required, right? I want to achieve this dream within 2 years. ◇Sooyoung I want to master an instrument. Particularly the guitar. In the Japanese movie, 'A Song To The Sun', the sight of the lead female character, Yui, playing the guitar was very pretty. I also liked Yui's song. When we do a concert, I want to show myself playing the guitar and singing. One more thing. I want to go on a cool vacation with all of my members ◇Seohyun My wish is to not waste any time and live each day to the fullest. When we have a lot of schedules and I'm tired, I feel myself getting lazier. I don't want to become a lazy person. ◇Jessica If I were to move just one finger, I wish everything I wish for would come true. My most important wish right now? I want to lie down on a bed and sleep restfully. After schedules and practices are done and I return home, I can only sleep for 4 hours. I lack sleep. ◇Sunny I'm slightly 'bad with directions'. I'm 'direction-blind'. It's been about 2 years since we've moved into Apkujeongdong and I still don't know anything except the road to the house and the company. It's uncomfortable. I wish a navigation appeared in my head. But thankfully, I'm not the only one bad with directions. Taeyeon's also bad with directions like me. Hahaha. ◇Tiffany I want a time machine. If I had a time machine, I could go to any time period I wanted. The time period I really want to go to is back when I was in 5th grade. There's someone I want to meet back then. Who it is, is a secret. ◇Hyoyeon I want to share a stage with Chris Brown. His performance on stage is so cool. I want to nurture my skills to be like Chris Brown and do a dance performance with him on stage. ◇Yoona I wish I didn't have morning sleep. I don't have much night sleep and it's hard for me to wake up in the mornings. If I wake up early in the mornings, I often doze off. ◇Yuri There's a 2 year difference between my oppa and I, who is currently in the army, and I wish he'd finish his duty safely and be discharged from the army. Oppa is like a friend and a parent to me, existing as support. Currently, he's serving in the air force and has 1 year left. Lee Junki 2009 in Japan for Splendor As announced, Lee Junki was in Japan over the weekend to perform for fans in Kobe and Yokohama for another series of fan concerts that seated 8,000 attendees. This event was called “Lee Junki 2009 in Japan for Splendor,” which follows his last series of fan concerts called Episode 2: “The Mask.” In addition to songs from his single album “J-Style,” he also sang songs from several of the OSTs of his dramas: in Kobe on the 18th, he sang “Foolish Heart” [미련한 가슴아] from Time of Dog and Wolf, and on the 19th he performed Iljimae soundtrack song “Flower’s Message” [화신].

FT Island - "No More Weeps! Just Smile!" CLOSEUP FT Island released their 3rd album 2 years after debut. Saying goodbye to sorrowful tracks from their 2nd album, FT Island comes back on stage with bright and cheerful songs. Idol band, FT Island, brings us smiles ever since their debut 2 years back. FT Island consists of the following members, Lee Hongki (vocal), Choi Jonghoon (guitar), Song Seunghyun (guitar), Lee Jaejin (bass) and Choi Minhwan (drums). Since their debut in 2007, their songs like “Lovesick“, “Thunder“, “After Love“, “Bad Woman” and other sorrowful rock ballads have gained lots of popularity. Lee Hongki’s melancholic singing style has become the trademark of the band. The way he expressed love and separation in the songs captured many women’s heart. The band’s latest released album, titled “Cross & Change“, has a special meaning. Unlike their previous albums which create a dark and heavy atmosphere, their new title song “Barae (I Hope)” portrays the vibrant energy of young men in their early 20s. It is also a crossover between rock and electronica and it gives off a brighter and lighter touch to the songs. Members also look different on stage this time. Hongki is now winking at the fans instead of showing his usual depressive image on stage. And now we begin our interesting interview with the members. Oh Wonbin left the team due to musical differences and Song Seunghyun joined in soon after. Many predictions and rumours were spreading on the team’s future. In order to clear up all these confusions, FT Island released a mini album titled “Jump Up“. However, the results from this mini album did not manage to reach the high expectations from the fans and the band was disheartened. They then sensed the urgency to come up with their 3rd album. “This new album serves as a new challenge as well as a readjustment for us. We wanted to do much better to make up for what we lack from the previous album,” said Lee Hongki. “We did not want to show just one image like the previous albums. So we thought of preparing another new image this time,” said Lee Jaejin. The band chose a brighter and positive image for their comeback. “It will be different this time” as what the members promised. They have taken a change towards brighter and cheerful music style. Besides the title song “Barae (I Hope)”, other songs like “Bing Bing Bing“, “Angel & Woodman“, “Marry Me“, “Knowing From First Sight“, “Monnani” are blending well with FT Island’s bright image. The members are all hyped up in singing. “Just as how I often smile on screen, I’m quite a cheerful person off screen too,” said Lee Hongki. “Many also advised us to portray an image that suits our age, to joke around with each other more often and be cute,” said Choi Jonghoon. “It doesn’t seem to suit us very well but it’s good to know that we can have such image too,” said Choi Minhwan. #Continuing Progress! FT Island stands out amongst the many idol groups in the industry right now, being a unique band made up of a group of pretty boys who play rock music using their own instruments on stage. Back then when the band just debuted, the members were insufficient in their playing skills and received titles of being just a “flower band”. The members proved themselves by practising at least 10 hours a day without rest. The band recently received an invitation to a famous rock festival and it proves their ability. “We are happy that we can do all kinds of music recently without any difficulty,” said Lee Hongki. “There is no end for practising. We still have a long way to go but we’re gaining confidence bit by bit now,” said Lee Jaejin. The members portray a more matured image for this new album. They also tried out crossovers between music genres like rock-n-roll, reggae, electronica and many others. Their confidence level goes up as they widen their music spectrum. They are also doing their Asia tour promotions in countries like Singapore, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and others. “Even at unfamiliar places, we are able to perform with confidence. We’re anticipating the tour promotions,” said Song Seunghyun. “It seems that we haven’t been resting ever since debut. There were times when we said we wanted to take a break but we did not eventually. We want to step on the “acceleration pedal” this time,” said Lee Hongki. Source

KARA releases a comeback picture Kara Reveals Comeback Still Shot: "How's our continuing makeover?" Counting down to their comeback, girl group Kara challenges with their exceptional transformation. Before Kara's comeback on July 30th, they released their very first still cut on the 20th. We're seeing some actions before their album release on the 30th. In the still cut, Kara has shed the cute and lively image they are known for, and give off a more mature lady-like feeling through their loose-fit style white tops, transforming into young ladies. Kara will continue releasing photos. With the photo released on the 20th and other photos with a variety of concepts, fans will have a chance to discover a new Kara. Currently their title song is in the final stages of editing, and a lot has been invested into their music video which has been filmed. Super Show II Press Conference Interview Idol group Super Junior has charged into their Asia Tour with their first performance in Seoul. On the 18th Super Junior, at the Olympic stadium fencing arena, had a press conference for their Second Asia Tour Concert 'Super Show II' , revealing their thoughts: "Rising to high rankings on foreign charts as a Korean artist is really satisfying.", "In the future, we'll do our best to make our name widely known in Asia." Member Leeteuk says "We, too, were brought up watching New Kids on the Block and other foreign artists, but now the foreign fans go wild watching us.", "We're letting our country's culture being known to foreign countries, we have pride that our voices are playing a role." and asks for support. From the 17th till the 19th, Super Junior's performances will be spread out over 3 days in Seoul. Starting from these performances they will be making 15 performances in 8 of Asia's cities including Tokyo (Japan), Beijing (China), Shanghai (China), Bangkok (Thailand), Taipei (Taiwan), etc. extending to a large scale of performances. ▲ This concert isn't only inside of Korea, you're starting your Asia Tour, how are you preparing for that? Also, while preparing for the concert, who's the one member that's been working the hardest? Leeteuk: The reaction to the first concert was good, but we were troubled over the concept. We want to show a matured image this time. Especially, Ryeowook will be reborn as a sexy man. Ryewoook: While I was trying to do a ballad, all the members said "It'd be great if you did a dance", so I prepared a sexy dance. Shindong: (To Ryeowook) Ryeowook-sshi was the first one to say that he's doing it. Eunhyuk: Even if we didn't tell him to do it, he would have insisted he do it.... Kangin: Also, member Hankyung practised so much it seems his hair colour has disappeared. (Laughs) ▲ In the first half of the year, "Sorry Sorry" was a huge hit, what are your thoughts on the 3rd album activities? Also, what's the concept of the concert this time? Kangin: While doing the 3rd album activities, it was a chance for the bond between members to grow more friendly. Amongst the guys while saying "eusha eusha*" the relationship between the members became far much better. We did our activities thinking "If we have fun on the stage, onlookers will also enjoy themselves". * - kinda like "fighting fighting" Leeteuk: Now it seems like we can say "The song we're known for is 'Sorry Sorry'". Also, it seems like we've found our true colours of music. At this concert, we're planning to show a 'Sorry Sorry' R&B version too. Eunhyuk: This time's concept is an upgraded version of elusiveness. We've prepared many new individual member performances. Kangin: In the middle of the stages, we've prepared a skit that we hope you'll anticipate. ▲ Aside from Korea, you're planning to do activities in every country in Asia, what are your thoughts on this? Kangin: We feel proud that we've rose to high positions on other countries' music charts. However, in Korea, it seems as though we haven't been acknowledged, and so we've felt left out sometimes. Amongst ourselves we jokingly say "It seems like we're the least popular in Korea". (Laughs) Leeteuk: When I was young I saw many overseas pop artists like "New Kids on the Block" etc but now, it's opposite and it seems like we're doing that share. I feel self pride. ▲ Where there any episodes (big things that happen) while preparing for the concert? Leeteuk: When the audience sees Shindong's, Hankyung and Eunhyuk's performance today, I think that they'll all be surprised. Especially Ryeowook's sexy dance. The concert's opening was magnificently prepared. Shindong: Our members are all very greedy, we would discuss things on our own while preparing. Kangin: The song written by Donghae will be revealed for the first time. While we were practising, he wouldn't even let us listen to it. We heard it during the rehearsal, and the song's pretty good; I thought, in the future "he'll make some pretty good money as a writer." (Laughs) Leeteuk: We have a song that Jungmo-sshi, from the same company, made and Heechul wrote the lyrics. It has a calm bossa-nova style feeling to it. ▲ Will there be any performances in Thailand too? Teuk: This time, at the 'Asia Tour' Seoul Concert, many overseas fans came and so we were thankful. Sooner or later we plan on seeking out Thailand too so please wait for us. Kangin: On the way to Apgoojeong Rodeo there seemed to be very many foreigners. From the way it was, it seems as though all those people came to see our performance. (Laughs) Yesung: This time we're planning on going to more places than the first Asia Tour. Leeteuk: Last time, we held concerts at 10 locations, this time we planned on going to 15 locations. We're holding the concert at many countries like Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, etc. Shindong: For foreign concerts we're even planning on preparing local songs. ▲ It's been said that you'll be singing SNSD's 'Gee' on this stage? Leeteuk: The people watching the rehearsal yesterday seemed to say that Gee leaves the biggest impression on them. Kangin: Heechul-hyung was in charge of it all. (Laughs) Heechul hyung told us to practise while watching "fan cams". Heechul: Aside from a cool image, I wanted to show a funny image too. Kangin picked out SNSD on his own. In order to practise, I signed up at a Jessica fan cafe but because I didn't level up the proper way I was kicked out. Kangin: The members would try to do it between each other, and then they would go to Heechul hyung and audition. Shindong was dropped out. Leeteuk: Today SNSD is coming to watch us. Yesung: (to Heechul) Why was I dropped out? Kangin: Because Yesung's schedule is busy... that's probably why he was dropped. (laughs) ▲ In Taiwan, there were many people following "Sorry Sorry", what are your thoughts? Hankyung: I'm thankful for the support from so many fans. If we release a 4th album, I hope to be able to reach everyone through an even more improved work. Kangin: Fellow celebrities also aided a lot.
