  1. I was not saying that the calls weren't obviously wrong. I simply believe that the winner would have been the same regardless of the decision there. England dominated for 15 minutes. Germany for the remaining 75. And as I said before, those counter-attacking goals were not a result of England forcing too many men forward but them failing to set up properly for two standard situations. That kind of negligence can lead to a counter-attacking goal just as easily at 2-2 as it did at 2-1.
  2. I never understood this obsession in some circles to try and convince the Americans of the merits of the game. If they don't like it, then fine. It's already by far the most popular game in the world, does it really need North-America to embrace it as well?
  3. It's not unusual for a team to have that many players in the box for a set play. It is unusual for them to have no cover behind the free kick taker.

  5. Those easy counter attacks were caused by England's failure to set up properly for a free kick and throw-in respectively. The score-line had little effect on either.
  6. There's room for a filling in between that Jessica-Irina sandwich! I volunteer!
  7. I don't understand all the complaints about the disallowed goal. I could understand it if the game had ended 2-1, but Germany scored twice more and had lots of chances before and after Lampard's goal was disallowed.

  12. Why not? Ghana and Uruguay (likely) aren't exactly insurmountable challenges. I like their chances more than England's, who will have to overcome Germany and Argentina to make it that far.

  14. I hope mr. Evra along with Anelka, Henry, Abidal and Gallas enjoy their international retirement. Unlike Domenech, Laurent Blanc has a backbone and very little patience for drama-queens.

  16. and considering the North Korean team of '66 had this fate after loosing to Portugal ( ) in quarterfinals (!) back in the day, I don't see why they would be treated differently this time. If you are referring to the rumors of the 66 team being executed upon their return to Korea, a BBC documentary disproved that story several years ago!

  18. Ref likely won't be seen again for the remainder of the tournament.
  19. Alien is an absolute classic and well worth the watch. Aliens too, though on a different level. The rest of the sequels are dreck.
  20. QBall, just how many teams are you supporting?
  21. Not quite. England still controls its own destiny. If they beat Slovenia, they go through regardless of what happens in the other game. If they lose to Slovenia, they go out unless the US loses to Algeria by a larger margin. If both the US and England draw their last game, then it all will come down to number of goals scored. The US is in the advantage so far, having scored three to England's one.

  24. The short answer for Brazil is that Dunga wants players he can trust in terms of tactical and positional discipline. This has hurt the chances of some of the flair players who took liberties with their responsibilities on the field. This is not your father's or grandfather's Brazil. They're solid, not brilliant. Though I am mystified as to how Robinho seems to find his way back into this new style Brazil. You'd think he'd get the booth along with the likes of Adriano and Ronaldinho.
