Gago to Grada Blanca

"We are leaders thanks to our own merits"

Grada Blanca will publish an exclusive interview with Gago on Saturday. The Argentine is living one of the best professional moments of his life and has adapted perfectly to Bernd Schuster's style.

What do you think about the weekend after the draw with Murcia?

The point we took against Murcia is positive, especially because we didn't play like we wished to in the second part and things could have been worse for us. We should be happy. We are still leaders in the competition.

The team started playing beautifully. What happened?

Maybe it was the exhaustion we felt due to the hard week most of us had. We made great efforts in the first half and we lacked something in the second. But that's normal. It's hard to keep it up with the large number of games we play. We should nevertheless keep working this way because we are doing well. We like to play like we did in the opening 45 minutes against Murcia. Everyone does.

Does the team get comfort from the fact that the main rivals are also finding it hard to win?

We are leaders thanks to our own merits. We won several consecutive games and we are working very hard to find a regular style. We are earning good results.

Will you focus differently on the Champions League game for being so close to qualifying for the next round?

No. Real Madrid must fight equally hard in any game. We have to try to play good football and win. That's what we will do against Werder Bremen. We would also do that even if it was the first game of the championship or if we were far from making it through to the next round.
