June 5, 20204 yr Crying racist isnt really going to educate anybody. You have explain why they're wrong. I can't/or dont think that any of those statements are particularly racist. Highly flawed and are often used in such a context, but they aren't exactly.

June 10, 20204 yr Robert McNamara is one of the most hated individuals of baby boomers due to his involvement in escalation and ultimate failure to win the Vietnam war. Nevertheless I have great sympathy for Robert McNamara (WW2 stats/strategic whiz, Ford Motors CEO, US Sec of D, President of World Bank) as a person and a heroic failure & representative of American 20th century ideals. In one person he illustrates good qualities and failings & what Americans could have been if America had managed to become a great civilization and a great people, at the comparative level of Imperial Rome at its height. However, these conditions were not in place and the "Next American Century'" was not to be and will not be in the foreseeable future. To me he is like an American Icarus, someone who had the ambition to reach the next level and tried hard, and as a consequence had many big successes and even greater failures.

The American "civilization" is the continuation of the European civilization in the new world. The European civilization is itself the descendant of the Roman Empire. This Empire was so great that both the conquered and conquerors of the Roman empire wanted to become Romans. The ancestor of Germany was the Holy Roman Empire. France considered itself as the eldest child of Church (which meant the eldest child of Rome). The US became the dominant force after 1918, when the four big European powers collapsed: the UK (and its global empire), France (and its global empire), Germany and Austria. Austria was completely out of the picture in 1918, France in 1940, Germany in 1945 and the UK in 1945 too (when the cold war made them a vassal). Russia was a real challenger until the 70s-80s and they were done in 1991. After 1991, the US had zero "declared" challenger. China was a competitor but they didn't declare themselves as one. They cooperated with the US (unlike Russia), but they slowly overtook them, via their industry, financial power, the public debts of many countries that they own, the colonisation of third world countries with soft power (something the US failed to do). China was smarter than Russia and they will overtake the US, because the US is helping them by self-destructing (the lack of "declared competition" and the lack of purpose inexorably brings to collapse and self-desrtuction - see the Roman Empire collapse ).
