Milan To Bid For Unsettled Ramos

According to the Corriere dello Sport, AC Milan are ready to take advantage of Sergio Ramos’ recent dispute with Real Madrid by launching a transfer bid for the player.

The 22-year-old is widely regarded as one of Europe’s best young defenders, however his future at Madrid has come into doubt after he criticised the club for failing to support him after he was sent off against Real Mallorca.

"In truth, I was surprised not to hear any of my partners, or anyone from the club, say anything about the issue,” said Ramos last week.

"I don't expect anything from anyone. I'm happy with myself and I'm just trying to learn.

"Nobody is stupid and everyone knows very well what I mean. I felt a bit alone, but now it's time to look forward."

Milan have long been admirers of the Spanish international, and it is believed that they see him as the long-term successor to the legendary Paolo Maldini, who is set to retire at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri are prepared to offer Ramos a £4.5 million-a-year package to entice him to San Siro.

Upon hearing about Milan’s ardour, Ramos said: "The interest of Milan makes me happy."

Ramos Apologises For Public Criticism

Sergio Ramos has explained his motivation for criticising Real Madrid in the press recently...

The young defender had told the press of his disappointment after his club did not publicly come out in support of him after his red card against Mallorca on Matchday 31.

He felt that he was abandoned by the Bernabéu side at the time that they needed to support him the most, thus prompting a public outburst.

However, he has now tried to mitigate these actions, stating that he could have handled the situation differently.

He told As, "That was a misunderstanding. I didn't want to create a big debate about it because that helps neither me nor the team, especially since we're on the verge of a title that we all want to enjoy.

"I did feel a bit isolated in that nobody came out in support of me, but I'm certainly not on bad terms with my colleagues. I get along well with them, and I feel loved by them all.

"Since then, I've spoken with whom I've needed to speak."

As ventured that one of these was sporting director Pedja Mijatovic.

"Yes," confirmed the Spanish international. "I made the mistake of speaking to the press instead of the club, but I'll learn from this.

"I don't really regret it, though, because that was really how I felt and I stayed calm in saying it."

Barcelona? I Don't Care

Discussion turned towards the run-in, one that sees Real Madrid virtually assured of the Liga title and arch-rivals Barcelona close to the Champions League final.

Ramos was only game for discussing one of these.

"Barcelona? Call it morbo if you like, but I don't care about Barcelona," he sniffed.

Can we do better in Europe next year? With the signings of last year, we've formed a very good group.

"We just need a couple more, then we'll see a phenomenal difference."

As asked whether or not Madrid had merely been the 'least bad' this season.

"We fully deserve the Liga and the prize is there," he countered.

"Nobody will lay down regarding the Liga because people value this title.

"It's true that Madrid are different from last year, too. We have used the wings, the counter-attacks, and we hold our lines. Maybe last year we actually had more flaws that way."

Ramos Doubtful For Osasuna Trip

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is in danger of missing the potential title-winning match at Osasuna on Sunday...

The young right-back had to end training early today due to a throat infection, meaning that he's currently laid up at home in order to recover.

This puts him in severe danger of missing the match at the Reyno de Navarra on Sunday evening. Miguel Torres or Míchel Salgado will have to step in at full-back.

It will also be disappointing for Ramos himself, given that Madrid can seal their second consecutive Liga title with a win in Navarre.

Ramos, 22, has started more Liga games than any other Real Madrid played this season except Iker Casillas and Fabio Cannavaro.

He joins Guti, who has a knee injury, on the doubtful list ahead of the Sunday night clash, which begins at 21:00 local time.
