August 8, 20159 yr Author One of the most iconic pictures in Rock history was taken 46 years ago: Abbey Road
September 26, 20159 yr Author ^ But that was just the picture for the cover, the real masterpiece turns 46 years old today:
November 27, 20159 yr Author In my opinion the best album by any Beatle post-Beatles is today 45 years old: By George Harrison: All Thing Must Pass Such a masterpiece.
December 7, 20159 yr Author ^ And the vocals by George Harrison + Paul on the backing harmonies (and humming the guitar solo )
January 31, 20169 yr Author Really old recording: The Beatles right before stardom playing at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, 1962
January 31, 20169 yr Author ^ Even earlier: a rehearsal recorded at Paul McCartney's home in Liverpool, mid 1960. By this time they were probably going under the name The Silver Beetles. Also, this, along with the other songs from this rehearsal, is one of the few recordings known to feature Stuart Sutcliffe on bass. Paul McCartney sings the lead vocal and then John Lennon does the spoken part ()
January 31, 20169 yr Author Another one from that same rehearsal: One After 909 primarily written by John Lennon; one of his earliest songs. This song had quite an evolution afterwards. They attempted to record it again in 1963, but for some reason it didn't work out: (Which I can't fucking find in Youtube... how frustrating) The song was rescued again in 1969 for the Get Back album sessions, which would later become Let it Be and it was played at the Apple building rooftop on 30 of January 1969. (Which I can't find either... Fuck you Youtube...)
February 9, 20169 yr Author 52 years ago today The Beatles played on the US for the first time appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show
February 12, 20169 yr Author Today it's been 53 years since The Beatles recorded their first album: Please Please Me. Which was done in one day. (And in another "Fuck you youtube" moment I can't find any link to the whole album...)
May 7, 20169 yr Author I've never heard this before Only an earlier demo. This is pretty much a "Beatles" recording, only John Lennon wasn't involved (thank you Yoko): it features George Harrison on guitar, Paul McCartney on bass, Ringo Starr on drums, plus Nicky Hopkins on keyboards (he play keyboards on Revolution), God Eric Clapton on lead guitar and Jackie Lomax on vocals The song was written by George Harrison when they were in India. Until now I only knew this song by an acoustic demo. I had no idea there existed a full band version!
June 2, 20168 yr Author Part of the masterpiece that is Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: Which is 49 years old today and changed the history of Rock and popular music.
July 7, 20168 yr Author A 6 of July, in 1957 Paul McCartney was introduced to John Lennon by a mutual friend when Lennon's band - The Quarrymen - was playing at St. Peter's Church Hall in Woolton, Liverpool. The rest is history.
