July 2, 20232 yr An embargo means that critics (or whoever) who might have viewed the film (or read a book or watched a play) may not release their reviews, critiques, spoilers etc. until that date arrives. It allows the critics time to view the material but keeps an even playing field so that one person or publication can't scoop the others. Everybody all at the same time.
