Her real name is Yulia Bykova. I read that she wanted to participate in the Russian EML contest in 1997 under Red Stars agency. Seemingly she didn't for some unknown reasons. Then was silense about her until the first success abroad.  I remember there was an editorial in Elle Russia September 2000, had reprinted from Elle Germany

From what I know it is actually Ioulia Bykova. Audrey, Colette Pechekhonova and Lida & Alexandra Egorova have all been brought into Paris by Nathalie of former Nathalie Models Paris kind of at the same time and she all made them little stars (and she actually changed their names first ;^) She got them from the same source in Russia if I remember correctly and became motheragency of them. I always wondered why she changed their names but it actually makes sense if Audrey was found by EML Russia before - Nathalie obviously wanted a complete new start from scratch. Audrey was a very sweet girl but was definitely on the shy and quiet side and was not very outgoing but this is how photographers wanted to present her in their photos anyhow at that time.

(fyi as well, @Minerva13 )

Colette was really Olga as far as I know, I only suppose that they changed their names to be more "unique", because many names in Russia are too common.

This is very possible although her Wikipedia entry states that it is „Kolett“ in reality. We used to represent Audrey and I know her real name from passport copies etc. and it is definitely some translated version of a Russian „Julia“ but we never represented Colette and this is why I cannot reconfirm her real first name.

Name Yulia be translated simple Yulia ) Or Julia in american style.

Perhaps she took the pseudonym in honor of the legendary era of style Audrey Hepburn.

I just know well the Soviet-Russian realities of that time and I can’t imagine that her parents named her Colette in 1980s. Wikipedia is full of inaccuracies and fantasies.
