@Lilja K @Jade Bahr  re-edited trailer without rap music & hans zimmer soundtrack

According to Imdb Harry Gregson-Williams is responsible for the soundtrack this time. He worked with Scott before on KoH, The Martian, House of Gucci, The Last Duel, and Prometheus.

So much better 😱

And exactly what I'm talking about. This is how to make the audience even more emotionally connected with part 1 especially because the 1rst movie had such a strong soundtrack + culture impact :PinkCouture2:

Whoever decided to put a freakin rap song into that trailer should be fired asap lol You want to sell this movie and make some money to bring the ridiclious amount of budget back in? Then do it right for christ sake.

Sometimes I think Hollywood is run by idiots these days.

that guy who edited the trailer (and got viral on youtube for it) did it in an afternoon & did a better job than the paid editors for this film lol.

the marketing team cropped the promo posters wrong lol:

Gladiator was pretty influential at the time (circa 2000).  It helped bring back the sword & sandal films (Troy, 300, Rome tv series, Spartacus series etc).  It was also influential in gaming (Assassin's Creed, Ryse son of rome, rome total war etc)  The visual style was copied and reused in many productions too.  I think the Vikings TV series uses the same filter.

I watched Gladiator many times and have never gotten tired of it.  It is one of those movies that people watch over and over again.

The only flaw in the script is how they wrote Maximus to be motivated chiefly by revenge and patriotism second; this is not really the Roman/Greek stoic way of thinking nor would Marcus Aurelius/Seneca advise it.  Stoics believe that to pursue revenge is a waste and illogical; one loses themselves in revenge.  They also believed that honor was more dear to one's soul than their life.  He should be motivated chiefly by honor and ambition, to save Rome and get justice for his family as a side-effect .

Coonie Nielsen deserved better. Her poster is by far the worst.

I could live with this casting  @Lilja K

I can see him as young Haymitch:yes:

This could be interesting. So far there isn't a really decent movie adaption imo @Lilja K

Emerald Fennell's Next Film is ‘Wuthering Heights’ Adaptation

Emerald Fennell has announced that her next film will be an adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel “Wuthering Heights.” She didn’t reveal whether it would be a modern-day adaptation, but that could technically be a possibility. I’m inclined to believe she’ll remain faithful to the book’s time period.

The source material does go well with what Fennell has so far tackled in her first two films (“Young Promising Woman" and “Saltburn”) — mental and physical cruelty, revenge, abuse, and the class system. She could it into a very dark direction, one by which we haven’t seen yet in the other movie adaptations.

One of the most tormented love stories ever written, “Wuthering Heights” tackles troubled orphan, and antihero, Heathcliff and his doomed love for Catherine Earnshaw. The ensuing ramification of his unhealthy affection for Catherine sets up a tale of revenge and social climbing.

There have been four movie adaptations of Brontë’s novel, released in 1939, 1970, 1992 and 2011. I liked the 1970 version, starring Timothy Dalton, but there’s always room for improvement as I don’t believe there’s been a definitive take on the source material. Not even Andrea Arnold could muster up a great film out of it. Maybe Fennell will finally “crack the code” in that regard.

I haven't read the book, I've only watched one film/tv adaptation that I vaguely remember. I think Tom Hardy was there. But I'd be interested to see what Emerald will do with it too:yes:

It's "only" a tv adaption so it didn't really count as "movie" to me 😇😄

I watched

Oh lord  @Lilja K Can't decide if I'm glad or sad that's not gonna happen ever 😅

Nick Cave Calls His ‘Gladiator II' Script A “Masterpiece" — Involved Time Portals, Christ and Vietnam War

It’s been dubbed “The Strangest Sequel Never Made.” Before Ridley Scott set his template for “Gladiator II,” he had a whole other story in mind, one involving Russell Crowe’s Maximus coming back from the dead.

"I know how to bring him back," Scott had told ME Movies in 2017. "I was having this talk with the studio — Whether it will happen I don’t know. Gladiator was 2000, so Russell’s changed a little bit. He’s doing something right now but I’m trying to get him back down here."

Scott had hired musician Nick Cave to write the script, one which would have had Maximus using the "portal of a dying warrior" to come back from the dead. Cave’s script was written in and around 2006 and sat on the DreamWorks shelf for close to 10 years.

Crowe was also onboard to return for the sequel, in fact he was the one who contacted Cave to write the script. The singer detailed his script, titled “Christ Killer,” on a recent WTF podcast episode:

“(Crowe) rang me up and asked if I wanted to write ‘Gladiator 2,” he said. “For someone who had only written one film script, it was quite an ask. ‘Hey Russell, didn’t you die in ‘Gladiator 1′?’ ‘Yeah, you sort that out.’ So, he goes down to purgatory and is sent down by the gods, who are dying in heaven because there’s this one god, there’s this Christ character, down on Earth who is gaining popularity and so the many gods are dying so they send Gladiator back to kill Christ and his followers.”

“I wanted to call it ‘Christ Killer’ and in the end you find out that the main guy was his son, so he has to kill his son and he was tricked by the gods. He becomes this eternal warrior, and it ends with this 20-minute war scene which follows all the wars in history, right up to Vietnam and all that sort of stuff and it was wild. It was a stone cold masterpiece. I enjoyed writing it very much because I knew on every level that it was never going to get made. Let’s call it a popcorn dropper.”

That’s right, In Nick Cave’s hands, “Gladiator II” would have involved a Christ-like man-god who “goes down to purgatory and is sent back by the gods”. According to Cave, the project came to halt after Crowe read the script, he reacted with a simple, “Don’t like it, mate.” If you’re more curious about “Gladiator II: Christ Killer,” it has been made available to read online.

Even if the script had been greenlit this decade, Crowe would have needed to embark on a major physical transformation as he is currently, most definitely, not in the kind of shape he was 25 years ago.

Sounds like a similar bizarre/bad/out of touch idea like Costners failed Horzion saga. People barely show up for 1 movie let alone 4 at once 😅 @Lilja K @Cult Icon

Sam Mendes Wants To Release All Four ‘Beatles' Movies on the Same Day

Recently, director Sam Mendes served as a guest lecturer at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA), and he let out one very interesting nugget about his upcoming Beatles movies.

Apparently, Mendes told the crowd that his plan is to release all four Beatles movies on the same date (via TheInSneider). Is this a good idea? Obviously, most people will first and foremost pay to see the John Lennon and Paul McCartney movies, then George Harrison and finally Ringo Starr. That’s just how it’ll go down.

If Sony does end up releasing all four films at once, then it would save them plenty on marketing costs. Mendes is directing all four, and although no casting has been formally announced, Jeff Sneider has put it out there that Harris Dickinson (John Lennon), Paul Mescal (Paul McCartney), Barry Keoghan (Ringo Starr), and Charlie Rowe (George Harrison) are being eyed for roles.

For the first time ever, Apple Corps. and The Beatles have granted full life story and music rights for a scripted film. Sony chief Tom Rothman stated Mendes was eyeing a mid-2025 shoot in the UK, with all four films released in 2027. There’s also been a rumor that Mendes regular Roger Deakins was asked to lens all of the films.

Out of touch indeed. No one needs it, so it makes absolutely zero sense.
