Also 69 never looked better imo 😲 Black don't crack- until they have diabetes & heart issues : ( After reading the wiki I think I figured out the general plotpoint based on the historical references and their names: Gladiator II - Wikipedia Macrinus - Wikipedia Literally Denzel's character is Alonzo except from Rome. Spoiler Denzel is the master plotter. The duel emperors will get killed one by one, first by one brother then the second by Denzel's plot. Denzel takes power, and then is killed 1 yr later like his historical counterpart.. (literally what happens at the end of Training Day)

It looks like high quality blockbuster, epic, visually beautiful, intense. Also with a great cast and a decent plot. 6 hours ago, Cult Icon said: I like the trailer too, it looks like a very fun film. Gladiator isn't just "some" movie it's a beloved cult classic since almost 25 years, Ridley Scotts magnum opus of his career. It's like James Cameron would decide making Titanic 2 all of the sudden 😅 (and don't tell me there is no storyline for this, there always is be it Rose journey/life or the search of the wrack or everything that was influenced by the sinking of the Titanic historically etc) Gladiator is a nearly perfect film, which splits the difference between art and entertainment without ever feeling like it’s laboring for either. The idea of a Gladiator sequel seems impossible—why mess with the best? Why risk tainting a great cinematic legacy? Those are the real questions here. Of course people are giving this part II a hard time. It's not really surprising when you really think about it imo. Except something about Ridley Scott films always lend themselves to sequelization (see also: Aliens, Blade Runner 2049), and it’s not like the Roman Empire ever lacked for drama to mine for the big screen. So I'm still here having all the high hopes for Gladiator II. Also people mocking everything and -one on socials these days.
July 10, 20241 yr I believe that Gladiator is also partially responsible for the interest in stoic philosophy on youtube/social media during the pandemic. All those stoicism youtubers used Gladiator pictures as thumbnails lol. Stoicism is still at 2 million views per month on youtube. People started to read the great ancient texts again (myself included- read them all). It's really a one-of a kind screenplay, so well written.

This is how to make the audience even more emotionally connected with part 1 especially because the 1rst movie had such a strong soundtrack + culture impact Whoever decided to put a freakin rap song into that trailer should be fired asap lol You want to sell this movie and make some money to bring the ridiclious amount of budget back in? Then do it right for christ sake. Sometimes I think Hollywood is run by idiots these days.

July 11, 20241 yr In other Scott news. FINALLY!!! If you haven't seen the DC of "Kingdom of Heaven" but just the theatrically released version you haven't seen the right movie. Just sayin. Ridley Scott's 4-Hour ‘Napoleon: The Director's Cut' is Coming Soon Ridley Scott's “Napoleon: The Director's Cut” is potentially coming very soon. It's just been rated R for strong violence, grisly images, sexual content, some nudity and language. This signifies clear intent on the part of Apple TV to make it available on their platform. In late August 2023, we had broken the news that Scott was working on a director’s cut of “Napoleon” and that it would clock in at over 4 hours. It’s obviously piqued our interest since then. The theatrically released version had some narrative holes in it, and a director’s cut could potentially cure that. Scott later told Total Film that it would be made available after the film’s November release. He called his lengthier cut “Fantastic” … Well, we’re still waiting, Ridley. Produced and financed by Apple, Scott’s epic reunited the filmmaker with Joaquin Phoenix as the European conquering emperor. It received mixed reviews from critics, but I actually liked the subversive way in which Scott told his story. I imagine the 4-hour cut is very different in terms of scope and tone. Scott is no stranger to “Director’s Cuts.” We all know about the multiple “Blade Runner” versions that exist. That film became a sci-fi classic only years after its release, when audiences discovered Scott’s originally intended version. Further, Scott’s Crusades epic, “Kingdom of Heaven,” originally released in the summer of 2005 to negative reviews, had a new version released on DVD, which had more than an hour's worth of deleted footage. The result? A 210-minute cut with character development, less plot holes and a much-improved story. Hopefully, lightning will strike again with “Napoleon: The Director’s Cut”
