February 9, 201114 yr Yes, but without the roles they played. It seems to be too complicated for some peopleBut if they couldn't write where they think they acted well, they might just be going by looks and not taking talent into it at allYou are so absolutely right on that
February 9, 201114 yr Author Women are much harder for me than men because of all the politics with looks and age (a lot more discrimination against older women vs. older men whose regularity of work doesn't decline nearly as much past age 50 in particular), commercialism ect. I personally think with the same opportunities that less attractive and older men have the female scene would be much more competitive than it is. Random statistic, the average female best oscar winner in the last 15 years is 33 years old vs. 44 years old for the men, that speaks to a much wider range of both opportunity and competition. There's also a wider range leading male roles, calling for a wider range of men even aside from age, which widens the competitive gap even more. If it were thus for both, this would be both much easier and much different for me, but here goes a rough draft off the top of my head . 1. Meryl Streep (Adaptation) 2. Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby) 3. Juliane Moore (The Forgotten) 4. Angela Basset (Rosa Parks Story) 5. Maggie Cheung (Clean) 6. Kimberly Elise (For Coloured Girls) 7. Ellen Burstyn (Requeim for a Dream) 8. Michelle Yeoh (Far North) 9. Charlize Theron (Monster) 10. Cate Blanchet (The Aviator) 11. Renee Zellweger (Bridget Jone's Diary) 12. Nicole Kidman (The Hours) 13. Helen Mirren (The Queen) 14. Lynn Whitfield (Kings of the Evening) 15. Holly Hunter (Thirteen)
February 9, 201114 yr So glad you liked Maggie in Clean. She was amazing in that movie. Also she was really good in Irma Rep. I was beginning to think I was the only person on here that liked her
February 10, 201114 yr Joe, great choice indeed and I´m a little bit shocked - finally a competition where you have to think a lil´bit more than just "this model is prettier, this one has better legs, uuuhm.......THIS one me no like" and people are like what? People are like NOT voting save the exceptions of course. hilarious.
February 10, 201114 yr ^ So true. And Joe - now that you mentioned her, I realize that I loved Holly Hunter's performance in "Thirteen" !
