Following in the footsteps of a slew of other models for the lingerie giant, including Gisele Bundchen, Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks and Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge has declared her desire to launch her own label. "I'd love to launch my own label," Aldridge told British Vogue. "A beauty line would be super fun, but I know that building my own company would be a lot of work. There's so much that I want to do, but I want to slowly start building my own thing." So why is it that so many Victoria's Secret models end up starting their own businesses? Aldridge claims that working for the lingerie retailer is empowering. "I'm so inspired by the different careers of so many of the Victoria's Secret girls," she said. "Being there does so much for you, and it does make you want to follow their lead. Gisele, for example, is such an incredible humanitarian and environmentalist, and Heidi Klum has created some amazing brands. It puts you in such an incredible position to further your career. Carolyn Murphy said to me once, 'This is a job, not a lifestyle. Stay smart, always turn up on time and be thankful.' I've tried to remember that." Aldridge is currently focused on her sophomore collection for Velvet by Graham and Spencer. Some of the items in the 18-piece collection, which retail from $50 to $200, include a shrunken denim jacket in a worn-in blue, a black short romper and other effortless garments in coral, green and white. "Velvet is totally my vibe," Aldridge said. "It's effortless, timeless and cool. They make the kind of clothes that I want to wear. I've picked pieces that I love from my wardrobe that I want to remake. Since having a baby, I think my style has evolved too - I used to play it safe and just wear something because I knew it looked good. After I had Dixie, I was so bored of wearing boring things.
