I started season 4  :chicken:

Some thoughts so far:

Interesting character development. Specially Walt, Jesse and Hank have gotten my attention these last episodes. It's notorious now how Walt is becoming more cold, manipulative and calculative in everything. On the other hand, maybe he's always been like that, and through his cancer and getting involved in the 'business' those traits are just hitting surface now.

I'm also curious about Hank, getting in a darker mood every time. Similar thing with Jesse, who seems to be falling apart again after the events with those dealers and the kid. I'm looking forward to see what happens with them.

Same with Walter, his evolution is taking a very interesting path.

Maybe after finishing this season I'll post some more impressions. A friend told me that season 4 is very intense to say the least.

The cancer was the catalyst to his calculating, manipulative, selfish and sociopathic behaviors. It was dormant until he found out about his cancer. He had all elements (no pun intended) within him to eventually break bad and become the person became. He said something in Pilot and something similar again in the Finale that supports this point.

Season 4 is a very "mind-blowing" one! I look forward to more of your thoughts about the season and the show in general

Yes, I definitely think he's always been like that, but the cancer was just a catalyst as you say.

Selfish! I forgot that. Yes, he's definitely becoming more and more selfish, always thinking first of his own benefits on every situation. Or how some event may affect him.

Maybe next week I'll post more thoughts, once I'm done with season 4 :)

So there's a Chilean in the series! Interesting :D

Even if Gustavo barely speaks spanish and the other guy didn't really had Chilean accent, but anyway it's fun to see a mention

USACH got named too

^ There is a theory about Gus' heritage...

Others have noticed his accent isn't very accurate so people think part of his family is from Germany ("Fring" is a German last name). They probably fled to Chile at the end of World War II. Furthermore, his family probably has some sort of connection to Madrigal which is why Madrigal supports LPH. People also think he has some Afro-Chilean blood in him which explains the darker skin.

Gus' past would be an interesting story to explore :D

Post-Finale Event...

Fictional Character. Real-World Problems.
On Saturday October 19, 2013 Walter White mourners are invited to attend a final farewell to the man, the myth and the legend, at his final resting place in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Services will take place at Sunset Memorial Park at 4:30pm. Breaking Bad set decorator Michael Flowers will deliver the eulogy. The Vernon’s Steakhouse Walter White funeral reception starts at 8:00pm. Attendance at both the funeral service and reception require payment with all proceeds going to the Vernon’s Steakhouse Walter White Endowment Fund at the Albuquerque Community Foundation benefiting Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless (AHCH). Michael Baird, owner of Vernon’s Steakhouse states, “This is an enormous opportunity for the Albuquerque community to benefit again from the worldwide phenomenon of Breaking Bad. With this event and the creation of the Vernon’s Steakhouse Walter White Endowment Fund at the Albuquerque Community Foundation, Walter White’s legacy and final amends will have a positive impact on Albuquerque for many years to come.”

By participating in these events, in person and/or by purchasing items or making donations online, one is contributing to the awareness and prevention of the hardships afflicting so many in our City and contributing to the effort to help end it while ensuring a piece of the tumultuous, yet valuable legacy that Walter White leaves behind. It is hoped that the event will raise much needed funds to secure substance abuse services to people in Albuquerque who need them most. ^ Starting season 5. Should I read the spoiler?

If you have already seen season 4 then I think it is ok to read that spoiler :D Perhaps you would have comments about the theories proposed since you are South American

Yes, I do have some comments :D

(And some thoughts on season 4 that I'll post later or tomorrow)

^ Thanks for your insight :flower:

I don't know much about Chilean history so I appreciate you informing me

That's a good point you made about there being no records of Gus being from Chile. Also, in "Hermonos" Don Eladio killed Max Instead of Gus b/c he "knows who you (Gus) are". Don Eladio with all his connections probably knows Gus is lying about his identity and past. I assume he had quite a history of criminal activities and violence.

As for any further info about Gus, you will have to watch the rest of the series to find out :p

In addition to being an anagram for "finale", "Felina" has a second meaning:

@ 6:50

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VD047H0QRS8

When Stephen Colbert talked to Vince Gilligan about the song El Paso used in the season finale of Breaking Bad, he asked if Felina was Jesse or the blue meth, and Vince basically said Felina was the blue meth.. Viewed that way, the song El Paso matches up with not only the scene it was used in and the season finale, but the entire series. Or at least I was able to shoehorn it all in, I have no idea if this is how the creators meant any of this. So I put together the rest of it, just the way I saw it, to the whole song before and after the actual scene from the finale.

^ In response to your thoughts on season 4

I assume you have already started season 5 and have met the character Todd. If you though Walt is a complete cold-blooded sociopath wait until you see the shit Todd does. He definitely gives Walt run for his money (no pun intended ;) )

The "I am the danger...I am the one who knocks"  scene/line is very memorable and iconic

I know the "gambling story" scene you're referring to:

@ 1:55

Ends at @ 00:05

One thing about Skylar I do respect is she usually can see through Walt's BS. She feels very hurt and deceived by him that she has become very skeptical of his actions and words. You can tell when he tries to be sincere she takes an extra moment to analyze and question the situation.

The way he said "I won" did sound very blase---very Heisenberg ;)

Another epic and memorable scene:

It was a major turning and jump for Walt in his transformation into Heisenberg

Even I think this is over doing it...

Coming Soon: ‘Breaking Bad’ The Opera

A New York-based symphony House announced plans Monday to develop an opera based on an episode of Breaking Bad. One World Symphony said the opera would hinge on “Ozymandias,” the third-to-last episode of the hit show. Artistic director Sung Jin Hong wrote on the opera’s website that he still wants suggestions about content and approach. “At this very moment, the details of Breaking Bad — Ozymandias (2014) may not be confirmed, but I hope to explore the question that the drama obsessively and hauntingly asked: ‘are we all breaking bad?

Haven't seen Todd yet  :ninja:

And that's exactly the scene I was referring to!

I find remarkable the level of apathy that Walt shows there.

That last scene is a big turning point too!

I'm going to watch the 4th episode, season 5 now :D

Edit:

Now I saw Todd (when they're robbing the train). Wtf that guy!

Sir Anthony Hopkins Binge-Watched 'Breaking Bad,' Wrote Bryan Cranston a Fan Letter

_____________________________

Dear Mister Cranston. I wanted to write you this email - so I am contacting you through Jeremy Barber - I take it we are both represented by UTA . Great agency.

I've just finished a marathon of watching "BREAKING BAD" - from episode one of the First Season - to the last eight episodes of the Sixth Season. (I downloaded the last season on AMAZON) A total of two weeks (addictive) viewing.

I have never watched anything like it. Brilliant!

Your performance as Walter White was the best acting I have seen - ever.

I know there is so much smoke blowing and sickening bullshit in this business, and I've sort of lost belief in anything really.

But this work of yours is spectacular - absolutely stunning. What is extraordinary, is the sheer power of everyone in the entire production. What was it? Five or six years in the making? How the producers (yourself being one of them), the writers, directors, cinematographers.... every department - casting etc. managed to keep the discipline and control from beginning to the end is (that over used word) awesome.

From what started as a black comedy, descended into a labyrinth of blood, destruction and hell. It was like a great Jacobean, Shakespearean or Greek Tragedy.

If you ever get a chance to - would you pass on my admiration to everyone - Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, Aaron Paul, Betsy Brandt, R.J. Mitte, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Steven Michael Quezada - everyone - everyone gave master classes of performance ... The list is endless.

Thank you. That kind of work/artistry is rare, and when, once in a while, it occurs, as in this epic work, it restores confidence.

You and all the cast are the best actors I've ever seen. That may sound like a good lung full of smoke blowing. But it is not. It's almost midnight out here in Malibu, and I felt compelled to write this email.

Congratulations and my deepest respect. You are truly a great, great actor.

Best regards

Tony Hopkins.

^ Hannibal Lecter  Walter White

If you think he is a complete psycho now keep on watching b/c he gets creepier :nicole:
