I don't want any of my favorite VS models to do SI really, but especially not Sara. Now there are a few SI models that I would like to do VS, but not the other way around.

agree , sara is a vs model , not a si model , i hate si models , they are not porn stars but they pose like one ,  and bikinis are so small , vs is more for sara , vs is more classy and will open more doors than si

She can get just as famous with VS as she can with SI, if not more. We all love Sara, and we all want her to get more fame, so your guess is a strange one. The reason being, VS is a better fit for Sara for many reasons. The fact that VS is more classy than SI is a big one, but not the only one.

I think SI has a higher impact, because it's once a year. There's all this build up before and then tons of promoting after, but the issue is only annual. VS is a brand, so it's pumping out new stuff and going through new girls all the time. SI has that "wow" factor because it's a super big deal whenever it comes out. And frankly, unless your name is Candice, I can't see VS doing a lot to help you out. Don't get me wrong, I know SI plays favorites too, but VS is promoting Candice on a much more consistent and bigger scale. It'll be a lot longer before we get to see someone else in that level of spotlight with them. And as MissLima said, VS rarely churns out any really big names. I bet a lot more people could tell you Kate's name than Candice's.

 

And I will be stepping on some toes when I say this, but... I find Candice's poses to generally be just as "slutty" looking, often even more so, than anything I see in SI. Not that I even see SI as that slutty. But they're marketing to men, whereas VS markets to women, and there's all sorts of connotations that go with that.

 

So all in all, I will not be opposed if Sara decides to do it. I was super excited when Emily did it, and love Nina and Alyssa in all the SI stuff they do. All Sara would have to do is bring the same level of sexy that she did for Calzedonia and she'll be solid.

Sara doesn't have the body for SI for one thing, her boobs aren't big enough to bulge out of swimsuit tops that are way to small. Not to mention, Kate Upton is the only SI model you mentioned that is more famous than most VS models. Nina, as much as I love her, she is not more famous than Candice or Karlie or many others. If you consider her relevant, than most VS angels are definitely relevant, because they are just as famous, and in many cases more famous than Nina. Also, not every SI models is as big as Kate Upton(no pun intended), not even close, so just because Upton got so famous, it does not mean every SI model has, or will. I think VS models as a whole are still more famous than SI models as a whole.

Most of the girls on this board are fashion models.  Fashion models get paid to promote a product.  SI is a Sports Magazine that has a bikini issue.  Some of the women they recruit are real fashion models (Izabel Goulart), some are bikini and underwear models (Heidi Klum, Kate Upton), and some are just pin up or Lads Magazine models (Teigen).  Neither VS nor SI are "career moves".  They are jobs.  And VS is the far more lucrative job because it is a campaign rather than a simple one off photo shoot.  Arguing about which makes you more "famous" doesn't necessarily relate to which is the better career move, since many of the women mentioned aren't even in the same business.  Erin Heatherton is an actual high fashion model.  For her, a "good career move" is one that gets her higher profile and higher paying work in the fashion industry.  Chrissy Teigen is a Lads Magazine model who knows she will never have a career in the fashion industry.  For her a "good career move" is more about pure fame and becoming a celebutante and getting mentioned on TMZ and all that.   

There are a handful of SI models that are pretty well known, but over half of them are completely unknown. The average Jo may be more familiar with Nina and few other SI models, but that is because SI is geared towards men, while VS is geared towards woman, so the average Jane is more familiar with VS models. On that subject, in general who knows more about the fashion industry and models as a whole? The answer is definitely woman over men, so working for VS gives you that advantage, because many of those same VS fans will also follow and support you when you do deifferent kinds of modeling. Whether it is high fashion runway, commercial, editorial etc, where as with SI, most of those male fans would not continue to follow a model in other aspects of the industry.

Emily had already stopped working with VS when she did SI; doing SI didn't stop it. And now she's been spotted recently at a VS studio anyway.

SI gives a model in a month (February) more exposure than what VS can give you in a whole year, just ask any of the 2013 rookies, all of them have booked at least once big money campaign or cover since February. While the VS girls are stuck modeling shitty bras for years, I'm sure the average Jane knows Lindsay's face but do they know her name? No, the VS girls are girls who people can't put a name on their faces while the SI girls people do know their names.

 

VS will sell those bras & panties regardless of the model wearing them because women already know the brand which is why the models come & go even if they're the people's favorite because VS doesn't need the models. While SI needs their models to sell the magazine.

 

Also let me remind you that VS already bitch-slapped Sara last year by not casting her for the show and at this point there's absolutely no guarantee that she'll walk this year or ever because VS isn't a brand known for their loyalty to models ... Don't get me wrong, I love Sara's VS work and I think she kills and I hope she sticks around for a while, but saying SI will hurt her career is completely absurd.
