Frederick's Roundtable: Volume 1

Dave was quite the long haired eye candy way back when so I say good choice, Baby(!) From both a musical and personal perspective, however, it all went downhill in the dreaded 1980s when he got fat, coke addicted and started writing boombastic arena rock shyt. He looks quite respectable by the time you get to The Division Bell, for which his new life affirming wife wrote the lyrics. Generally though albums involving the wife, or ones that serve as tributes to domesticity bore me to tears, hence why I don't listen to Double Fantasy or any of those new Eric Clapton recordings where he talks about doing the washing up OR WHATEVER.

Yes, Baby, more recommendations!

So I did buy that Exile... remaster, and no - it's not much different. The extra album was very much worth it though, especially if you're in love with that 'Mick Taylor period' Stones.

Infact, the only real noticeable difference was in the clarity of I Just Want To See His Face which - given that my enjoyment of the song was in it being so murky that I could imagine myself in some voodoo bordello, having a grand old time with a few ebony vixens, and making a half-hearted, mumbled shot of salvation by acknowledging Jesus (just in case this languorous scenario was to be my last) - was surely a misfire anyway! ;)

Thanks for the feedback. I saw that documentary Stones in Exile on TV the other night, with one of those wholly unnecessary BBC added Alan Yentob intros. I assume it was significantly edited down from the cut they showed at Cannes. T'was quite fun but would only have been informative to complete and utter n00bs.

i'm proud of myself.

maybe rage against the Machine's new album will be produce by Mark Trombino. Brad is like me, he is a big fan of bands like Fugazi, Hot Snakes and Drive Like's Jehu... and the drummer of this last band is a good friends of mine and procudes many bands like Jimy Eat World, Blink182 etc so i introduced them to each other because they have the same age, lives in the same city, have the same politic opinion, have similar musical tastes etc so they were happy and now, maybe they will work together.

but Mark is specialist in emo/punk music so... that's not sure... but it could happened :) :p
