George should've been wary of Disney, they've been lacking talent for a while. They just buy other people's ideas (Pixar, Marvel, etc.) George has been a naive. Instead of becoming a consultant, he should've imposed the guidelines for the scenario (or at least he should've asked for a veto right). It would've been a better deal for him and for Disney (because now that Disney have f*** over the fans, they've lost their trust, and a lot of them won't go and see ep. 9) KK is a political activist (and a bad one), not a movie maker.

The deal would've never happened if they gave GL veto rights, all he had was a handshake deal. KK back stabbed him by throwing out his outlines for 7, 8, and 9. She also sacrificed the story and characters for diversity and inclusion. JJ is a hack and not innovative at all. If the story and characters are good, people will like it. Look at Ripley, she's one of the most badass characters ever and no one says shit that she's a woman because Ripley is a badass character.

Star Wars is a winning bet and a great recipe for success if and only if: - they work on good storylines(that make sense!), interesting and complex characters - they stay consistent with the original universe without copying it and... above all... - they cut the political Bullshit Heavy sigh, unfortunately the above caveats will never happen. Lucasfilm had such a tight reign on their timeline that helped to keep it interesting, as well as challenging the writers. Almost everything was following along canon. Disney messed it up, so they could once again get that merchandise sold. But we all know that so I feel like I’m doing this: I kind of agree about EA’s SW games. The only one I play is The Old Republic. Im wondering if we could crowd fund enough cash to buy it back from Disney?

Yes and they're too obvious, like with Iron man's many many suits (whose goal are only to sell more merchandise)... It seems to me that it's not working as well as it used to, but I don't have any evidence of that. 7 hours ago, CandleVixen said: I kind of agree about EA’s SW games. The old republic is alright, at least the story and characters are pretty good (they put some efforts into it), but the gameplay could've been better (the camera and the moves are too rigid, and sometimes the landscapes feel empty). 7 hours ago, CandleVixen said: Im wondering if we could crowd fund enough cash to buy it back from Disney? Disney bought Lucasfilm for $4 billion. If the new movie is a failure, then the value of the franchise will strongly decrease. If, let's say, its value drops by 25% (which is possible ), then it's $3 billion we would need. Let's say there are 30 million motivated fans over the world, then it would be an average of $100 per person. That's doable, but to really motivate people, you would need a guy (let's call him George ) with a project and also a designated and credible "heir" in the event he disappears. Even more credible, George could buy back Lucasfilm with 50% of his money and 50% via crowd funding. ------ PS: once again, South Park was right when they warned us about Disney (and that was in 2012 - these guys are visionaries )

Sure, I've always thought that, but the thing is that ep.8's story is garbage and the characters are worthless (I think Paige Tico and Luke are the only credible characters in the movie). The characters' sole purpose is to support KK's political agenda. 13 hours ago, Stromboli1 said: Look at Ripley, she's one of the most badass characters ever and no one says shit that she's a woman because Ripley is a badass character. Ripley is great. Tomb Raider is great. The Bride in Kill Bill is great. And if you take Star Wars' universe, Mara Jade is great. It's not a question of gender, it's a question of credibility. If all they can provide are Mary Sues, with no history, no purpose, then it's dull and it's pretty offensive to women IMHO. BTW, if you're referring to Rey, I think she's alright. I liked her in ep. 7 and in ep.8 she's still a decent character, at least in comparison with the rest of the crew like Rose (aka manichean Rose), Holdo (aka SJW admiral), Poe (aka useful idiot), etc. And in any case, all these characters look like stray dogs wandering in the vacuum of an empty scearnio.

My point was no one cares about sex, religion, ethnicity, etc if the character is good.

Finn was good in episode 7, there was a lot of potential in his character. Unfortunately, they sacrificied him in ep. 8. He became Rose's stooge and that was very unfair to him he could've become much more. And yeah, that part of the storyline sucked (basically all the parts with Rose - sorry for her, her actress is probably a great girl and all, but her character is just a caricature)
