MIRANDA KERR SPREADS SEASONAL JOY WITH NEW

SELF-DESIGNED JEWELRY COLLECTION

post-22656-0-28293400-1447310352_thumb.j

You may not have met Miranda Kerr just yet, but she’s still eager to share a piece of her heart with you. Though that statement might sound completely crazy, it just so happens to be true (men, you may now not-so-quietly rejoice): the Australian supermodel really does give a you-know-what about absolutely everyone. “[People might be surprised to learn] that I actually really, really care about everyone, and that I feel like we’re all connected, even the people I haven’t met before. I feel like we’re interconnected,” the 32-year-old stunner proclaims earnestly. This caring is evident in every aspect of her life, whether it’s working with the Australian nonprofit organizations the Kids Help Line and the Royal Women’s Hospital, or writing a self-help book about self-love (“Treasure Yourself”), or even creating a line of inspirational jewelry, as she recently did for Swarovski.

Kerr was given carte blanche to design as she pleased by the Austrian crystal house, and thus decided to infuse each piece with meaning and symbolism. Her collection of bracelets, necklaces and earrings are adorned with four-leaf clovers, hearts, stars, wings and evil eyes. Each represents a different value she holds near and dear, including love, joy, strength and grace.
“I love the way that the evil eye—which represents strength—looks. I love the star; it’s a message of joy about radiating your light. The little wings represent grace, and going forward with freedom and strength. I’m very much into the intent behind things,” she notes. Case in point: you’ll find crystals in clusters of three on her pieces, because said number happens to be Kerr’s favorite—and for one very good reason.

“I was actually conceived the third time my parents were together, so I consider that lucky,” says the model, without any of the typical gag reflex reaction most would have in reference to parental intimacy. She speaks of her conception sweetly and almost wistfully. “My mom has only ever been with my dad, so that’s special. They’re still together now, and very much in love.” Though she isn’t focused on romantic love at the moment (Kerr divorced Orlando Bloom, the father of her 4-year-old son Flynn, in 2013), ‘love’ is a word she uses easily, and often. “I love what I do. I love meeting new people; I love being creatively involved and having my own skincare line (KORA Organics) and designing beautiful pieces for Swarovski. It’s wonderful to be able to do what I’m passionate about,” she notes.

When it comes to her heart, however, Kerr is cautious: there are only a select few who she lets in. “My grandmother knows my heart. My son, he knows my heart. But someone who sees me in a magazine, how would they know my heart? People have preconceived ideas, but it’s important to remain true to yourself and just really understand that if someone doesn’t have a good opinion of you, then they don’t really know your heart,” she notes. Without really knowing Kerr, it’s easy to see one thing: this heart of hers is incredibly big. She’s involved with nonprofits like Kids Help Line—an organization which offers free counseling to kids between the ages of 5 and 25—and makes sure that women’s needs are met when they’re giving birth by working with Australia’s Royal Women’s Hospital. She also recently donated $100,000 to Friends of the Asian Elephant (FAE) in order to fund custom-made replacement limbs for pachyderms in Lampang, Thailand. “I want to be able to help people feel good,” she says altruistically. “Empowering others to feel good about themselves is really important to me.”

But what makes Kerr feel good about herself (besides the obvious, of course—face, body, hair, check)? “I try not to deprive myself of something I want. I try to be 80 percent healthy and 20 percent indulgent. I try not to be so hard on myself,” she declares, adding, “I mediate for five or 10 minutes, morning and night. I pray, and have an attitude of gratitude even for the small things, like having a roof over my head, water, a healthy body and a healthy son.” Given that she’s grateful for basic human needs, it’s not surprising that the Zen-like beauty considers normal things to be luxuries. “It’s a luxury for me to have a day off. It’s a luxury for me to literally just lie in the grass with the sun shining, reading a good book. It’s a luxury to be able to do little things every day that make you feel good, like having a nice bath or doing a 10-minute meditation,” she says almost dreamily. “When you’re able to do that, you’re able to give back so much more to everyone else.”

At the moment, she’s looking forward to the holidays and spending more time with her son and grandmother, in particular. Kerr intends to take a step back, regroup and spend time with those she loves most before working on a plethora of upcoming projects, which includes penning two new books (one being a cookbook), focusing on growing her skincare line and, of course, continuing to model. She may even one day try her hand at acting, though she can’t foresee sitting still long enough for that to happen in the immediate future. “Before my son was born, I was working six days a week, and you need at least three months to be able to dedicate yourself to a movie; I also had a lot of contracts that prevented me [from acting]. There have been offers and interest, but I haven’t had the time. Never say never, but at the moment, I have quite a lot going on.”

However, she will not, as it has been suggested, return to the Victoria’s Secret runway. “That’s a no. I’ve had such a wonderful time with them—I see them like family—and it was such a wonderful time in my life, but I’m really happy to put my Angel wings down.” She pauses and adds with a laugh, “Hopefully I’ll get my real ones in my next lifetime.”

Let’s face it: Nobody assembles a squad—or to use his preferred parlance, a Givenchy Gang—quite like Riccardo Tisci. The proof is in the brand’s new campaign for Spring ’16. The all-star lineup includes Mariacarla Boscono, Lara Stone, Natalia Vodianova, Joan Smalls, Gemma Ward, Miranda Kerr, Iselin Steiro,Candice Swanepoel, Delon Smith, Alessio Pozzi, Filip Hrivnak, Alexandre Valotto, Kevin Sampaio, Diego Fragoso, Gabriel Vieira, and Antoine Lorvo—or, to put it more simply, 16 of modeling’s most famous faces, many of whom have served as Tisci’s muses over his decade-long career at the helm of Givenchy.
