October 15, 20159 yr (There is a difference: Rap is the music itself, and Hip hop is the music plus the culture that surrounds it) Country. Bebop or Swing?
October 16, 20159 yr Lion Storm - Hmm, I never thought about the difference that way. To me, the difference between rap and hip hop is more like what this WiseGeek article says - http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-difference-between-rap-and-hip-hop.htm. Rap mostly involves words spoken fast to a beat (often telling a story), whereas hip hop incorporates singing, as well, and tends to put more of a focus on the music and mood rather than the words. Additionally, women's voices seem to be more prevalent in hip hop music than they are in rap. "99 Problems" by Jay-Z and "One Mic" by Nas are rap songs, whereas something like "Mo' Money Mo' Problems" by Biggie, Diddy, and Mase is more of a hip hop song. The American music industry usually combines the two genres these days, though, calling them "rap/hip hop" or "hip hop/rap." (Yes, I grew up on rap music, which why I unfortunately am a connoisseur ) Lake or ocean?
October 16, 20159 yr Ocean Well, that's I've read and seen the most as the difference between the two, but it may be an outdated definition if it was ever accurate. Then I'm also not into that kind of music and it's not my field of knowledge, so I'll take your word Km or mile?
