Annabel, who became a London fashion icon in the 1980s and was best known for her role as Laurel Ellis in the hit TV series "Dallas," has died in Los Angeles from complications from cancer at the age of 62. Her passing, which occurred on February 28, was announced today by The Hollywood Reporter. Born on September 4, 1963, in Llanelli, Wales, Schofield grew up in a film-related environment: her father, John D. Schofield, was a British production executive with credits on major Hollywood blockbusters of the 1990s. Before landing on American television, Schofield was one of the most iconic faces of the London fashion scene in the 1980s, a period marked by the influence of the New Romantics, the legacy of punk, and the innovative style of designers like Vivienne Westwood and Katherine Hamnett. Over the course of her career, she starred in campaigns for brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Rimmel, Revlon, and Boots No. 7. A memorable TV commercial for Bugle Boy, in which she uttered the line "Excuse me, are those Bugle Boy jeans you're wearing?" while driving a black Ferrari in the desert, contributed to her international fame. At the height of her modeling career, she moved to Los Angeles, where she landed a role in 12 episodes of "Dallas" (1988), starring alongside Larry Hagman, who played the famous J.R. Ewing. Her character, Laurel Ellis, is a captivating and ambitious young woman who enters the soap's middle seasons, bringing with her new emotional tensions and power dynamics. Ellis becomes involved in a relationship that becomes intertwined with the delicate balance of the Ewing family, inevitably falling into the orbit of manipulation and psychological games orchestrated by J.R. On the big screen, Annabel Schofield starred in Solar Crisis (1990), alongside Charlton Heston, as well as Dragonard (1988) and Eye of the Widow (1991). She later moved behind the camera, working in production roles on films such as The Brothers Grimm, Doom, and How Do You Know. In 2010, she founded the production company Bella Bene Productions in Burbank, California, developing advertising, music, and fashion projects.
