October 22Oct 22 @Jade Bahr @PrettyDeadThings @Lilja K Nothing groundbreaking, but a solid Spooky Season pick, especially if you're a Dakota fan. 3/5.

I was randomly browsing horror movies last night and when I saw Dakota was in it, I figured to give it a shot. The Watchers was pretty good too.
October 23Oct 23 After 15 mins I was considering lobotomy, after 30 mins I was close to committing seppuku, but damn things really picked up after that and I actually ended up liking the movie. Olivia Holt

The first movie wowed everyone with the 3D and all the visual spectacle stuff, but that alone doesn’t carry the films anymore. Unfortunately, I only saw the 2D version because the movie was sooo long (3+ hours), so I went for the electric take-a-nap seats. I don’t think I fully got to enjoy it the way it was meant to be seen, so maybe I’ll check out the 3D version later.

I like the unique protagonist as a predator runt. The culture war grifters intially attacked him for his appearance without knowing what he was.The Prey film is also interesting and resembles a typical historical spin-off story in the universe.the original Predator is the best but this one is as good as a predator movie can realistically be.

The movies are very violent but have no gore. The characters are simple enough for kids to understand but not complex enough for adults to enjoy. The avatars are directed towards kid enjoyment.the film's story is mainly aimed at holding a technological presentation optimized for imax/3d for higher margin ticket sales. The premiere example a good take on this type of movie is "The Last Samurai", which is probably the best one. This movie gives man-tears and it has a great supporting cast. IIRC it was rated R. Although today Japanese who know their history would quickly realize the film presents an westernized and super idealistic view of the samurai and not what they were historically (as imperial and corrupt). Also the trope of the white guy getting the hottest asian women is insulting in this day and age.
