Sic

Gosh, it's truly hard for me to narrow it down to one favorite :)

The thing I like the most about being a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio is just when I think he has given me a character /peformance that is my favorite, I walk

into a darken theater to see his lastest film, and suddenly realize I have a new favorite. :) :)

Thanks LOT, oxford for the new pix! He looks sooooo handsome, just wish we could see larger pix. Wonder why none of the usual celeb sites have them yet?????

Sic - I'm not new but like ox said, it's hard to just say one favorite. There are sooo many for me. I mean how can anyone pick between WEGG, R&J, Marvin's Room, Titanic, The Departed, Aviator, BD, Inception, BBD, CMICY - it's impossible!

Warners Press Release regarding start of "Gatsby" filming.

I think someone needs to remind Warners that Leo was ,also, an Oscar nominee for "WEGG" :)

"The Great Gatsby" Begins Production

Shooting underway on new adaptation starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role, under the direction of Baz Luhrmann

BURBANK, Calif., Sep 06, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Principal photography began this week on Warner Bros. Pictures' and Village Roadshow Pictures' "The Great Gatsby," the new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel from the uniquely imaginative mind of writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann. The filmmaker will create his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before. Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the title role.

"The Great Gatsby" follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

As to who is the guy in the photo, could be Leo, or it could be his other bodyguard that we saw in airport video, as it looks like is wearing same white hat.

by princess: Even that Leo would totally do that and hide his face with the cap, it doesn't look like him to me, but I don't have sure.

And now I'am curious, you talked about your country, so where are you from?

Me too solange, I can't remember exactly the last time he was in a talk show, I hope this year he can go in at least one of them but with all his busy schedule, I don't know.

That is a cute pic of Leo, he's looking so adorable and he wasn't into Archer character yet, Danny is more tough and have kind of a bad ass look... :p thanks solange

Eastwood’s J.Edgar To World Premiere As AFI Fest Opener

BY PETE HAMMOND | Wednesday September 7, 2011 @ 1:00am PDT

Although it was speculated that Clint Eastwood’s much-anticipated J. Edgar would show up at either Venice, Telluride, Toronto or New York Film Festivals this Fall, it has been conspicuously absent from all ofthose lineups.  Until now.  Warner Bros and Eastwood have agreed to have its World Premiere as the opening night gala of the 25th edition of AFI Fest 2011 presented by Audi on November 3rd at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Warners will open the film in limited engagements on November 9 and go wide two days later.

The film starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the controversial founding director of the  FBI,  J. Edgar Hoover co-stars  Naomi Watts, Hammer and Judi Dench in an original screenplay  by Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black (Milk) which explores  the public and private life of a man described as one of the most  powerful, controversial and enigmatic figures of the 20th Century.

Eastwood , a four time Oscar winner including Best Pictures Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby also has ties to the American Film Institute as the recipient of the 1996 AFI Life Achievement Award. Word inside Warners from those who have seen it say the film could put the prolific director back in the Best Picture race for the first time since Million Dollar Baby won  in 2004. A (biased?) source  there told me that it is definitely 3-time nominee DiCaprio’s best shot to finally take an Oscar so the premiere is a coup for AFI which opened their fest last year with Ed Zwick’s Love and Other Drugs. This year’s fest will take place Nov 3 through 10 and is likely to feature several other awards contenders thanks to its perfect timing for Oscar campaigns.

“What a gift it is to be going to the movies when Clint Eastwood is making them, and what an  honor it is for the American Film Institute to premiere his latest contribution to America’s cultural legacy,” Bob Gazzale, President and CEO of the American Film Institute said in a statement announcing the selection.

Eastwood's 'J. Edgar,' starring DiCaprio, to open AFI Fest

post-52324-0-1446088829-43887_thumb.png

Sight unseen, Clint Eastwood's upcoming J. Edgar Hoover biopic has already been deemed a best picture contender by a number of Oscar prognosticators. Pundits will officially be able to back up -- or back off of -- those claims at AFI Fest 2011, as event coordinators announced Wednesday that "J. Edgar" will be the opening film at the annual festival. Celebrating its 25th year, AFI Fest will kick off in Hollywood on Nov. 3 and run through Nov. 10.

"J. Edgar," slated for limited release the week following its AFI premiere, stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the respected-but-feared FBI director who was often controversial. Beyond its A-list director and star, the film also boasts a well-known cast that includes Armie Hammer, Judi Dench and Naomi Watts. The movie's script was written by Dustin Lance Black, whose screenplay for "Milk" earned him an Academy Award in 2009.

Last year, AFI Fest launched with "Love and Other Drugs," the romantic drama starring Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal that fared decently at the worldwide box office but failed to spark any awards buzz. It remains to be seen whether Eastwood's latest effort will follow a similar fate. While the 81-year-old filmmaker has long been a critical darling, his most recent film, last year's "Hereafter," garnered only one Oscar nomination, for visual effects. Eastwood does, however, have a long-standing relationship with AFI, and took home the festival's Life Achievement Award in 1996.

For the third year in a row, AFI Fest will offer patrons free tickets to the majority of its screenings. But those who want to guarantee their seat in the theater for Eastwood's film will have to pay a hefty sum for that opportunity. To reserve a spot at the gala screening of "J. Edgar," one must purchase either a Star Patron or a Marquee Patron Package -- the prices of which range from $1,500 to $5,000
