  1. BTW, Aaron (aka "85") in Alien 3 is called "65" in the French dubbed version. They had to lower his IQ for the French market. I don't know if it means we're dumber or something I checked and they didn't do it in Spanish, Dutch or Italian
  2. Anyway, I'm rambling on once again...
  3. BTW, I think I prefer Aliens to Alien. It's less creepy and there's more fighting spirit. Of course, there's always the Weyland Yutani corporate bitching, but the marine spirit lives on.
  4. Typical example of martial music in Aliens with drums.
  5. It's interesting to compare the Predator's music to Alien's. There are way more drums in Predator's OST, which makes it more martial. There are the necessary eerie moments in the music, but it's often broken by rhythmic moments with heavy drums. It gives more structure to the music which makes the predator both worrying, but also more warrior like (or hunter like). The atmosphere is very martial, both because the major and his buddies are soldiers, but also the Predator itself has a warrior spirit (and self discipline) Also, even if the Predator is sneaky (cause he has his invisible cloak), he loves the sport/challenge and gives somewhat of a chance to his prey. --- This is very different from the Alien (the first). There's no martial element, it's all sneaky and vicious, with a music filled with slow ambiances punctuated with high pitched / strident noises. Now, in Aliens (the 2nd), there are space marines (soldiers...) and the OST is heavily marked with drums, though somehow still blended with the creepy atmosphere. The drums are for the marines, the creep stuff for the aliens.
  6. Yep I love the music too.
  7. You realize that what we say is not contradictory, right? It's OK to agree on stuff sometimes The Predator exhibited values. Fighting only the strong and sparing the weak (or weakened). That's what we used to call honor, a term that Hollywood now rejects, because they call it "toxic masculinity" (or any other made up term for people who love the smell of their own farts )

  9. I love the cast of this movie
  10. The next AC is going to be in Japan? AC blended with Ghost of Tsushima? https://www.gematsu.com/2022/09/feudal-japan-set-assassins-creed-codename-red-and-assassins-creed-codename-hexe-announced
  11. BTW, in Predator 2, you have women, black, latinos, etc. and nobody made it a selling point to the viewer. You didn't hear people saying "Watch our movie, it's the first time we employed a wahmen or a black guy". We loved Danny Glover as the hero, because he was an awesome cop, not because of his skin colour. That was called being civilized. Now Hollywood is a jungle obsessed with race, gender and "the current thing". -- Remember how the Predator was a villain, but a civilized villain that wouldn't harm a pregnant woman? Awesome movie.
  12. Left-wing extremism.
  13. These articles/backlash/events are exactly why I dislike Hollywood. https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2022/09/08/rings-of-power-racism-elijah-wood-tolkien/ All of these articles were probably ready months in advance. PR at Amazon planned to shoot them as soon as one critic would hit their product: "Reeeee, you don't like our product, so it means you're reeecist". It's a never-ending broken record.
  14. Predator 2 is a great movie. What critics say don't really matter to me, I never really trusted them, but I definitely stopped after the Last Jedi. Most critics are paid by newspapers that are owned by mother companies of movie studios.......... and the collusion is not a "suspicion", there are many cases in which it can be easily proved. And the opposite is sometimes true, I can see instances where critics destroy a foreign movie to protect their mother companies' baby. It was probably less the case in the 90s when Predator 2 was released, but it's another illustration that they are often wrong Anyway, I prefer the original Predator, but Predator 2 is still a great movie. All of the actors are brilliant. The setup is very interesting and Los Angeles can clearly be seen as an hybrid between a jungle and a city.
  15. I've bought one which is chocolate flavored. I didn't see that they put some sweeteners in it and I don't like the taste very much... https://www.fitnessboutique.fr/proteine/black-protein-whey-arkens-isolate/prod-blablpwhey0750c.html
  16. Which one? Brand, type, flavor, etc.
  17. This is from when good American movies were made! I remember when I was working in M&A, few people would publicly admit they knew these movies, but in private discussions most of them said they loved 'em!
  18. Me neither, because it doesn't look realistic. These fantasy stories are supposed to be based off European medieval type environment. But these actors are put here like tokens which isn't my cup if tea. The Witcher's Northern Kingdoms are supposed to be a Polish / Central & Eastern European environment. In GoT, Northern Westeros people look like Northern Europeans, Southern like Southern, Essos' ppl like Middle East / North Africa and actors are cast this way. It looks more realistic IMO. Anyway...
  19. I was referring to Stromboli's link about CD Projekt and the new witcher games. I'm not watching the new American fantasy shows (neither HOD nor the RoP). I love fantasy (particularly Tolkien and GRR Martin's) and I'm sure the visuals are great, but I came up to increasingly dislike American movie/shows in the past few years (probably since the last jedi). There are exceptions, but Hollywood is mostly filed with political nutcases today. And I watch movies/series for escapism, not for a reminder of how dilapidated things are in 2022. --------- BTW, Galadriel is a fantastic Tolkien character, but I fear that Amazon has butchered her story.

Interesting. I didn't find many references to it on the internet, but I surely remember this one from Groland!
