I suppose you're right, The Bends was often wrongly labelled as Britpop, by virtue of being a record by a British band in 1995. I would also say that The Libertines' influences extend beyond merely 1990s indie rock, but again, I get what you mean. That being said, I'd say Blur had more in common with Madness and then Pavement than they did with Oasis, which shows you that yeah, the term Britpop was pretty darn vague. You're probably right about the lifestyle, if you were partying with Loaded magazine editors in the West End, snorting coke in the toilets with Goldie, or even just on the cover of the NME, you were most likely dubbed a Britpopper.

Casillas better watch out, I bet Ramos wants Gomes too!

This thread's fun, but did I see the cover of The Bends posted? Definitely not a Britpop band, them Radiohead boys. We need some Ocean Colour Scene, Menswear and Sleeper posted too!

I feel sorry for Real, if only they had a genius like Daniel Levy running the ship. Maybe they'll re-sign Woodgate, that was quite entertaining first time around.

Outside of Blur and Pulp, and the occasional decent Oasis b-side, I don't get very nostalgic for any of these bands. I always thought Suede were pretty nothingy. Apart from Damon Albarn, none of the Britpop squad have done anything particularly interesting in years (maybe Jarvis).

I for one think Ramos should pair Huntelaar with Darren Bent.

Always seemed regally mediocre, on Saturday he was downright shameful. Flamini was a filthy lil' bandit but my how they miss him.

  20. It can't be any worse than last year's. Its like they thought the show had been too 'high brow' previously and had to be more like a glorified hen night. VS can't have too many more primetime outings, aren't the ratings always worse year after year?

So I'm not allowed to criticise the Spurs situation because I support Villa? My original post wasn't a case of a Villa supporter getting high and mighty, whilst mocking poor ol' Spurs, I didn't bring Villa into it, you did. Should I go back in time and not laugh at when the Glazers took over Man Utd because of their subsequent title wins? After all, what have we won lately? Please. Besides, I've posted countless cynical/jaded/bitter/mocking remarks about Villa and will continue to do so, I have absolutely no delusions about my club, its past, present or future. You need to let the Merchant of Venice thing go, I would have compared Harry Redknapp to Shylock after he moved to Southampton from Portsmouth, Spurs had nothing to do with it. I consider this tedious matter finished. Between your smug over-written bleeding heart nonsense and your obnoxious avatar, I'm putting you on ignore.

Media's inevitable response to Rays 4-1 defeat: This is a young team, they can only learn from this! Go Rays! Media's April AL East preview: Yeah, Yankees! Yeah, Red Sox! You can never count out Toronto! The Orioles, what a great history! Who are these 'Rays' I see listed?

The last time I saw him, he was working for a lower division club (it might have been Northampton, but I could be wrong about that) as a goalkeeping coach. They were featured on Match of the Day in a cup game a few years back and he was caught on camera poking one of the opposing coaches in the eye But thanks for the info - he was always a colourful and unpredictable character, but not once did I see a career as a tennis instructor in his future!

So he can stay fit and play for England during the MLS off-season.
